Anyway after comparing it to my early production (good) Zeusray, the Thorfire has a much more intense zoom, not as big flood.
In flood it seems brighter and in zoom much brighter.
Doing amp tests the Zeusray is direct drive and will easily pull over 4 amps with a good battery.
The Thorfire by comparison is pulling 2.65 on an LG HE2 that is not topped up it is at 4.12 volts, so the increase must be better optics.
And get readyy for it……………………No visable PWM, just Hi, Med and a nice low
I measured 2.65-Hi, .51-Med and .14-Low
No mode memory, always starts on High.
There is not much techincal info on this light but I did find a good German review here;
They are reporting “with unprotected Efest IMR at 4.2 Volts yielded 21,440 lux” this was after 30 seconds.
Pretty good me thinks!
Real nice build quality as you can see in the German review. Lots of threads on the tailcap and brass retaining rings on the tailcap switch and on the driver.
Thick springs as well.
Does not have a clip but there is a nice shelf for one.
All in all a very nice flashlight for the money.
Later,
Keith
Those looking at the HP1 which is a great little light, they’ve recently released the HX5 which has higher output but at the cost of run time.
It’s above the budget stated by the OP but their HP5R whilst expensive is a great torch … I wish they made one that was a bit shorter without the on-board charging and without batteries … that’d be a great piece of kit!!
The other I’ve never tried but have been looking at is the Convoy DB04
One correction for you to make: I accidentally said “Trustfire UF-10” in one of my posts and people ran with it. No such light by that name exists. The correct name of the light I was referring to is actually “Ultrafire U-F10”. Sorry for the confusion. All these xxxfires are confusing. :zipper_mouth_face:
Also don’t forget to add to the list: “On the Road i3” :+1:
I’m pretty sure all the edi-t lights are obsoleted and impossible to buy these days unless you pick one up used there were about 8 ? edi-t’s
I own the t-11 and the p-13 as well as the p-11 and p-4 ….
If you’re including old lights than you’d have to give a nod to the yezel and the sipik 58
I’d say the best 3 zoomies for the money are …
the
-#3 also called the 2$wallbuys zoomie . With very simple mods anyone can do it becomes a much better tiny zoomie ….$2~4$
- the supfire F3-L2 Is a great very easily modded zoomie…maybe the best cheap 18650 zoomy.10~ 12$
-Brynite B158 can be bought for 20~25$ and like all zoomies it only gets better and better when modded .Easy to swap out brass pills that screw in .
Boaz, I see your point about the edi-t lights. I was only able to find one seller with them in stock and they want almost two hundred bucks for some of them. http://edi-t.com.au/collections/hunting
I am dropping those from the list. If someone can find dealers where they are still in stock I will put them back.
Since we’re seeing an increasing number of people selling variouslynamed X700 Tactical Zoom lights and some offering them free for reviews, it’s perhaps worth mentioning where people can find that sort of thing at a good price.
For those who like that sort of thing, I think this is the sort they would prefer to buy:
I've found design of "1800LM CREE XM-L T6 LED Zoomable Flashlight" type zoomies very good for the price. They have very wide beam and are heavy enough not to overheat. Of course it is hard to find real Cree led in them, but you can always replace it. Most have next mode memory driver which can be somewhat solved with "pencil mod".
Your exactly right hank. Thank you for mentioning this. There is no telling how much money we could save people here by addressing that. There are a ton of G700 alternatives that would be good lights if the right price was paid for them +1 for Simon’s listing too. Nothing wrong with selling alight like that at all if you post the truth about it.
Here are some others I found. Most exaggerated lumen claims ever, but the price is right.
