Bump

What’s wrong with guns? I like guns. Everybody should have a few.

So here’s what happened: There are no moderators here apart from myself. Sometimes I get PMs from helpful users directing my attention toward a problem thread, and I try to moderate it at my own discretion, which is obviously limited and imperfect.

But in this case nobody complained; I ran across this thread myself and deleted a few of the pics that were either suggestive or risqué. My intention is not to judge anyone’s personal standards of “family friendly”, nor am I trying to be prudish. My main concern is that allowing certain borderline-risqué pictures to remain would set the tone of the post or get others thinking along the lines of (1) women and (2) chest area of said women, and you can imagine where people will take it from there. And from my experience it’s a pretty sure bet that would happen.

I probably should have made a quick post explaining my actions as I am doing now, but I didn’t want to go and publicly shame anybody or give the impression that I was calling people dirty or lewd. But at any rate I apologize for not handling the situation very well.

Ris•qué (rĭs-kāˈ)►

adj.
Suggestive of or bordering on indelicacy or impropriety.

Let me tell you my problem sb56637, what I and other members posted yesterday was not lewd or risque in the mind of a normal person. An abnormal person who most likely is a Breed’em Young or Bob Joneser would find it lewd or risque. And those people that are complaining to you in a PM about pictures of fully clothed people just have a dirty mind and most likely will be the ones we’ll read about in the news being busted on a CP website and that abbreviation has nothing to do with Candle Power if you know what I mean.

I suffered abuse from the church at a young age and that wound has not healed. And I find it offensive when someone tries to force their values on me whether be some politician or a fundy member here who cries to you in a PM that they saw a picture of a clothed woman doing the same thing that you see above where 2 presidents are chest bumping.

Instead of coddling this member at mine and other members expense, why not tell them to lighten up Francis and to avoid the off topic chatter or if they want to be in that other kind of environment, they can go back to the “other” forum where the goose-steppers roam and the members are always in fear?

Maybe instead of carrying the burden of trying to do all the moderation by yourself, maybe you can appoint a team of moderators from trusted and fair minded members? That way it will give you some relief and they can deal with a real and true rule violation when it happens 24/7.

I and other members want to have lots of rule number 9. Can we be allowed to have lots of rule number 9 without some party pooper ruining it for everyone?

I appreciate your point Jubeldum. And please understand that this is a fine line to walk and there’s not an easy solution that will please everyone. But as I said, I didn’t receive any complaints about this particular thread. It was more of a preventative measure because I don’t want people to get started down the path of posting outright inappropriate stuff. First somebody posts a pic of a scantily clad woman, next somebody will try to one-up that one with a topless woman, and it’s downhill from there. There are obviously other corners on the Internet to post and view such content for those who choose to do so, and I’m not trying to change their values with this rule. I simply don’t want that sort of content on BLF, whether people complain or not. It’s also worth remembering that irrespective of anyone’s personal values or preferences, all websites are subject to the rules of hosting providers and domain registrars, some of which outright prohibit certain types of content and their terms specify that they can suspend your account if you violate their rules. Of course this particular thread was nowhere close to that yet, the big word being “yet”, and I don’t want anybody to start down that path. Also Google and other search providers rank sites by “safety” and will block budgetlightforum.com from their results for many users depending on their Google search “safety” preferences. I don’t want BLF to fall into that category.

I wasn’t planning on causing a ruckus with this thread, i figured it was SB deleting the pics, and i understand why, i don’t quite agree but i understand, and i figure there is no real harm done by their omission.

In the end we have to sometimes make compromises to make things work, and i don’t see this as being a major problem, we are not losing much by keeping the thread rated G, and it is not an unreasonable request.

I only saw the OP pic of the girl in a white shirt. I did think “Hmm, little risqué for BLF” and more so since the OP can set the tone for a thread as Sb mentions. Now do not get me wrong, I whole heartedly enjoy risqué and more. And I liked that picture. But I know BLF aims for family friendly.
On one hand, sure it would be nice to see some risqué stuff but if BLF acquired enough risqué pics then that can bring in some less civilized members imo. Like it or not, the BLF rules and moderation helps BLF be what it is. A friendly, enjoyable forum.

This too is a very good point.

in a moment this is going to be painful

Bumpity Bump!

Jubeldum—really?
you can’t be so thin skinned on internet forums.
Its not your “right” to be here and post anything you want.
Its a privelege, Administrred by sb,
and he isn’t obligated to explain his actions to us; although he did so admirably.
