I got nothing against CPF, as I did join a week or two before BLF, but never got any answers at all to my query, so never had any negative experiences. 
But, “The evils of tyranny are rarely seen but by him who resists it.” (John Hay), so yeah, people who did see it firsthand would of course have legitimate gripes.
I worked at a place that touted itself as a happy place with lots of nice perqs, such as subsidised daycare (no kids), tuition assistance (wasn’t planning to go back to school… ever), paid maternity leave (uhh, yeah, “not applicable”), and so on, all I wanted was the bux up-front. “Ummm, nope, but you have all these benefits!” :person_facepalming:
I found out the hard way that, yeah, it’s a great place to work as long as you can tolerate the smothering maternalistic attitude, ie, don’t EVER challenge “mom”. Mom knows best, and what’s best for you, even if you disagree. For shame, thinking you know what’s best for you!
Yeah, that didn’t go well.
So, I imagine it’s similar at CPF. I found great info there by goggling it, but that was about it. Never even got the chance to become enough of a member to experience all good things or any bad things.

Hey! I got some of those! XR-E in the 2×C light, and a quite nice 1×AA light. Even the AA’s output blew away my Maglite!
All forums ARE good places when they first started.
It’s the direcions they take. With who. that causes most troubles.

She’s like that all the time, so it’s nothing unusual. I don’t really get it: she seems to hate running the forums, and dislikes everybody on it, so I’m not sure why she does it. Okay, it’s probably the money she makes from it. Still, there’s got to be more pleasant ways to make money.

If you plug "Greta" into the BLF search box - the very first result will show this has been going on since 2011.

Its not just Greta thats bad. The mods in the automotive section are horrible too. They act like they are experts on automotive lighting and they do seem fairly knowledgeable but they contradict themselves quite often on info and when you call them out on it they just delete your post and never admit they are wrong. Just happened to me tonight.

I’ve only been on CPF a few times following links from here or searches so I have no clue about the crap that’s going on there, but if CPF is as bad as many say, wouldn’t it be a bad thing if it went down? I wouldn’t want BLF to become infected with what’s been described in this thread. Better have an *sshole community where the *ssholes can stay among other *ssholes?
It’s down again. Just because I was having fun reading their “Whad did you use your flashlight for?” thread, too.
Unlike there, over here the atmosphere is radically different (far nicer and more chill) and our admin makes sure of that. Besides, the pricks there are precisely the owner, admins and moderators, and they’re all way too proud of being a big fish in a small pond to move to the “competition”.
I never really thought of it like that.

A few moderators in the Auto Lighting section are definitely what turned me off to CPF too. Can’t stand Internet Preachers/Cops.
