COB/SMD for floody flashlights? anyone tried ...?

Came across these while looking for little flat rectangular pc-amber emitters, which they also have. [pdf]

With a forward voltage of 10 I think your driver options would be limited. Interesting emitter though.

I had a 3W COB LED from a spot on a star
Tried it in a flashlight since we bought 3700k for lighting in the house.
Tried it with a reflector that fitted like a glove but the beam was smudgy

> Forward voltage

Ah, the PC amber ones are 3.2v forward voltage (first link in original post) are more reasonable for flashlights.
And those are what I was really looking for.

More and more of these big flat emitters coming out, in more and more sizes.

How long til I can get one the size of the ceiling in each room in the house?

Here’s another floody COB light: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-Mini-Pocket-Portable-Camping-Flashlight-Torch-CREE-Q5-LED-Flashlight-light-weight-Indoor-Outdoor/32568825960.html

COB is great if you want to get tens of thousands of lumens

I got one of these for $2.01 off ebay auction.

Want a REAL beam shot? or is the pic good enough.

xref to the other COB thread: COB LED flashlights? discuss, point, recommend, criticize ....

The beam shots are fake, I would not expect more than 1.5W on the LED and like no heatsink

Ah, I figured they had to be, they looked astonishingly narrow-beam for the source. Yeah, a real white wall shot would be welcome.
And a link to the seller. I’d guess we’ll be seeing a lot of such.

Not a white wall, beige. From 5ft it makes a 4ft circle, pretty even. Light emitted is white, on the cold side but no blue.

Low has PWM

Was an auction on ebay. Not sure if seller has more listings.

it has one of those round 3X AAA battery holders but the holder has 2 pin contact at one end, not the usual flashlight one. Holder need to be inserted properly and it has a groove on one side of the holder. Its a cheap light and quality is not great. The rectangle skywolfeye I poster in the other thread has a better build but not better light output. For lighting this is better. Same High, Low and a slow strobe.
