Convoy M1 with MT-G2 and Carlco Optic ~ (photos fixed)

MT-G2 lights I’ve seen I don’t know much about the optic lens could some one please explain the mechanics of it say versus a normal A/R or zooming lens?

This is a morning after reflection on my modded Convoy M1. I guess you have to walk away from a light you’ve been working on to get a better perspective.
Sitting at my table, drinking my morning coffee, I reached for my M1 from my clutter of lights occupying most of the surface area.
Hmmm. I can’t find it. Where is it? It was right in front of me, but I had lost perspective of how small this light is. It makes a C8 look large.
This little light was easily keeping up with much larger lights in my tests last night. My neighbors were awed by the volume of light it was throwing out. They didn’t even want to play with my larger lights.
To be truthful, I can’t comment on how this optic performs against the original reflector that comes with the M1, which could easily accommodate an MT-G2. All my other MT-G builds have been with much larger lights.
Perhaps it would perform equally, I don’t know. I would think that the small size of the stock reflector would merely act as a mule with this emitter, but I have no hands on experience to back this up.
If anyone has tried a small reflector build, I’d like to hear about the beam quality.

Hey comfychair! I just finished copying this mtg2 TIR build. I put it together and gave it a shine. It’s nice and bright, but the beam profile is TERRIBLE! Any suggestions?

Here’s a screen shot. It’s a bit different than what the camara is showing. It’s more spiky. Like a pointy snowflake. Is this normal?

did you fix the beam pattern?
