Convoy S2 overheated

I doubt there’s any difference in cost for a driver with biscotti or not since it’s just a matter of how it’s flashed.

Sellers other than the Convoy official store sold off tons on cool white lights with the 3/5 mode firmware for budget prices many times. I doubt you can request the $1 Biscotti reflashing from them like you can from Simon (most of the lights from his store page feature Biscotti stock now anyway though).

You need more mass to absorp the heat.
A C8 for example with a domed led and OP reflector might be another option.
My FET driven C8 doesn’t get hot at all and can sustain a high output.

While my S2+ rat-rod (TA driver and triple XPL hi) gets hot in 30 seconds

My main is a Convoy M1 with 8x7135 set to mode group 8 (max 50%). The fins are so generous on it, it never got hot while tailstanding.

That only works until it too is heated up.
You need to get rid of the heat by radiation and mostly by convection when it’s tail standing or laying on a table.
For that you need surface area and some air flow.
A C8 has enough surface area to sustain higher power without getting hot.

Hmmm…
My C8 is 10 Watts on high mode, and it definitely gets hot after a while when tail standing indoors.

Yeah, those small multi emitter lights get hot in no time…
Not for the unexperienced, unless it has some thermal management or step down time.
Or just use them in low modes for long time use.
