Here’s my confirmation that the 17mm 8A buck driver has been fixed, but damn does it get toasty. Why is it that Simon’s driver supplier has so much trouble with good thermal regulation? 65°C at the head and 61°C body and cell. The cell at 61°C is higher than some datasheets max temp for certain cells, so this is a little concerning depending on the cell used or bundled.

Edit 1: The 65°C head and 61°C body was also measured at 15 min. It sat there from approx the 8 min mark. There doesn’t seem to be any real thermal regulation here, it may be stepping down in those small increments based on time or voltage, but not temp.

Edit 2: The temp may start to eventually reduce past 15 minutes, I shut the test off at that point. I’ll test the runtime on both 100% and 35% later on in the week.

@Simon_Mao Are you able to get the code changed so that it steps down a little lower? The 35% output is a little too high for the small C8+, and is what the 100% mode has reduced down to. I really hope you aren’t using this driver in your smaller models because that would be very unwise. Full testing by someone that can produce graphs should be conducted before they’re sold to the public.
