I use 10 degree bead. The beam is very nice, a smooth spot with no distinction between hotspot and spill, as usual with tir lenses. I detect no artifacting in normal use.
I have tried 10 degree flat with 219b and the artifacts are very distracting.
I have not tried 5 degree flat.
This is 219b but it may give you an idea. 70-80m to the tree. My camera is not so good but the 10 degree TIR throws better.

You’re welcome. My experience with the 10 degree flat was bad. Lots of artifacting, and the LED I was testing with at the time was SST20/SST40 - the beam was donut-holing and had multiple rings within the beam. Didn’t bother testing with other LEDs. Though I haven’t tested the 5 degree flat, I’d personally be wary and temper my expectations. If it’s at long distances maybe you won’t notice the ugly beam too much.
Is this 10 degree TIR clear flat or beaded?
I´m thinking about getting some to test with my S2+ 519A, I have a 30 degree beaded TIR and it´s great up close but it loses too much throw compared to the OP reflector so I keep going back and forward between the two. I´m currently running it with the OP reflector because I have been using outsite more often nowadays and the throw difference is certainly noticiable.
Beaded. The 10 flat’s beam is horrible especially close, I got rid of it. I also tried I think the 45 and 85 flats and they both had bad artifacting and rings so I just assume all the other flats are crap too.
My pictures don’t show it well but the 10 beaded does throw better but honestly it’s not going to be staggering a difference. Maybe 20-30m more if you measured it. For me I just vastly prefer the TIR beam shape.

Hello, I’m going to order a convoy light with the SBT90.2 but I’m not sure which one to get. I’m leaning towards the L8 because I want the best throw I can get but would a multiple battery light like the 3X21A be a better choice? Does battery number and type make any difference with the SBT90.2 in convoy lights?
The L8 does slightly outhrow the L7 and 3X21A/4X18A because it has the largest reflector, but it also has the lowest capacity because of the single battery, so it will also run the shortest amount of time. They are all monsters, though, so it’s not like the L7 and soda can lights suck by comparison.
I have the L7 and 4X18A SBT90.2 lights, and they’re both great. Some people may prefer one form factor over another, but performance and runtimes will be fairly similar between the two, especially if you make the L7 a 2x 26800 light by adding extension tubes. I have huge hands so I don’t mind the soda cans at all, but some people (like my wife) have small hands and find them awkward to hold.

Among the four Convoy with 90.2 emitter which I have, I like the L7 the most. It looks most appealing to me, and I have used it most often.
The 3x21 and 4x18 ones, I have used them mostly for my bedroom soft lighting, by fitting a colour lense on each of them (blue or green, bought from Banggood, Astrolux). They are too heavy when fully loaded with battery cells to use outdoor for a long walk.

Yes, it is a vase with some Chinese flower pattern. My wife got it from a flea market and put some plants in it for my room. She insists I need some plants in my WFH room to bring some life to my otherwise very quiet room.
