Simon, you are awesome. I have probably bought hundreds of things from your store and never had a single problem. You have always shipped stuff lightning quick, never messed up an order unlike other AliEx sellers, and the quality has always been awesome. Thank you.
Cool. That was just an educated guess on my part. If you had paused sales to examine a potential security risk, it would’ve been a completely reasonable precaution on your part, and I doubt many people would have been upset over it.
I just checked it again, and for whatever reason, Paypal is working normally today when it wasn’t yesterday. I have no way of knowing why that happened. That was the first time I’ve ever seen it not work.
I tried the convoy site and it didn’t work. I contacted Simon and he didn’t seem interested in solving the problem. I also recently had fraud on my credit card which may or may not be related.
Personally, I’ll use Aliexpress as I have had a lot of good experiences through them. If Simon choses to make items Covoy store exclusive then I simply will not buy those.
Contrary to what you think. I actually reported the problem to the company that built the website. But I didn’t get reasonable feedback. So this problem has not been dealt with here. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I don’t find a solution.
About "make items Covoy store exclusive ", In fact, I hope to open stores on the mainstream e-commerce platforms in the world, and then upload the goods to these stores. Because the consumption habits of people in each country are different. It would be foolish to force everyone to shop only on my official store. My personal energy is limited, so I can only upload the goods to my official website first.
As for AliExpress, its rules have been constantly changing this year.It is possible that today’s rules will be changed the next day.Not to mention that there are a lot of unreasonable things about them.
By the way, I don’t know what’s going on with the credit card issue, so I’m trying not to take sides.
I appreciate both Simon and koef3.
Both of you contribute to BLF a lot, and I don’t think either of you would try to mislead the rest of us.
It bothers me that an otherwise unicorn of a thread is derailed by negativity. Tone is very difficult to read and particularly for those not native to a language.
It amazes me Simon comes here and answers pretty much every question and follows through. It seems like so much time and energy. I’m quite sure if any issues existed, they would be dealt with promptly.
Simon, thank you for your customer service and value products.
Can we get back to flashlights? Dude just gave you the brass you asked for !
This. I’ve stuck around for long enough to acquire tremendously respect for Simon and koef3’s character. I am convinced that this is a case of legitimate misunderstanding/miscommunication involving more than just Simon and koef3, caused by differences in information available to each party plus two layers of language barriers.
I am sorry that you’ve had to deal with these interactions, many of which are caused by people being genuinely unreasonable. The fact that you are still running the store and collaborating with the flashlight community and offering the same excellent standard of customer care, I think, speaks a ton about your character.
I get the sense that a great part reason for it is this unpleasant interaction, and I really wish this weren’t the case. You were doing a service by pointing out what is potentially a serious issue, and I do think that it is not right to accuse you of intentionally fomenting mistrust after both you and Simon already made several statements afterward to clarify. Plus, I think there is no need to pile up on existing, well-intended criticism–beyond that point it ceases to be constructive.
You did say that you also need to take a break to figure out your own stuff, and I wish you the best on that front. Please know that you will be missed, and not just for your prolific LED tests, which happen to be my favorite threads in this forum.
Koef3, you are also awesome. I have read all your LED reviews and they have helped me immensely.
It would be sad to see you go. I hope maybe that one day when emotions have cooled down, that you would once again participate in the community. You will be missed.
I would hope maybe we can work past whatever happened here and move forward in a positive way.
What I see as a design flaw in this and the S21E is the very protruding power button. It should be flat or lower down so it can be carried in a pocket. I think you should take an example from Hank’s flashlights to give them a really usable shape. An option for a raised switch retaining ring might also be good. I also didn’t buy from S21E because of this and the 10-click lockout, which is completely unrealistic for me, so it would just be a shelf queen.
I understand what you mean, but in my experience, the button needs a firm press. I don’t often carry it in my pocket, but when I do, I never experience any activation. I also don’t really use lockout, but I agree. 4 clicks normally means lockout, but in the Convoy UI, it means temporary turbo. That doesn’t quite make sense.
If you always carry it in your pocket, then there might be cause for concern, otherwise you should be fine.
Having just read through a lot of it, so often it just comes down to people having no idea how to communicate. It’s especially hard online since there’s no tone, body language, etc to read.
By the way, Simon has the most “thanks” of all time for this version of BLF, and by a large margin.
So although I’m sure Simon has received hate from some on the internet, he is beloved on BLF.
