Looks like the Anduril light is live.

The diagram on the page is for old Anduril. The old MCU and lack of easy flashing means it won’t be easy to update. I got one anyway.

1 Thank

Yay!!! Thanks for the heads up and thanks for @Simon_Mao for all the effort in releasing this!! Ordering mine right away!!!

2 Thanks

Same same, also ordering one for me. Will order another when @Simon_Mao releases V2 with easily accessible flashing pads and at least a couple more when V3 with the T1616 comes out!

I’m late again!

Which version is the UI or version 2?

It doesn’t say in the description.

Edit: I’ve seen it in the version with battery is the Anduril UI version.

Horay for a convoy Anduril!

For anyone on the fence or “against” it, the newer version of anduril, anduril2, comes by default in simple mode.

In simple mode ( or “simple UI”) everything advanced is locked away. The diagram is very simple and basic, more than a lot of other flashlights.

The benefits to"simple" users include intuitive brightness ramping, good thermal management, and a way to lock the light and check battery level (though these two could be considered too advanced… just don’t triple clic or 4-click, silly).

I think this new convoy driver may still be on the old anduril 1 though…? For me this is still better than the old ui that I didn’t want to try.

2 Thanks

Anduril 1 firmware is unifortunate if that is what it has. Anduril 1 is harder to use for beginners. Anduril 2 starts in “easy” mode that anyone can use.

I’m sure someone on this forum can make you an Anduril 2 build for this torch that you can give your manufacturer!

Just wanted to say that as an Anduril 1 aficionado I assumed that Anduril 2 would be no problem (just switch to Advanced Mode, right?). However I got inaccurate battery checks and notice you have to calibrate the voltage on Anduril 2. Performing calibrations (thermal/steps/ramp) let alone memorising them is not easy.
For this reason I strongly prefer Anduril 1 as the battery check was always accurate as far as I could tell.

Is there a link to the v3 version?

1 Thank

It seems that yes, in the description it puts an image of the old scheme.

@Simon_Mao I have some doubts:

Is it the same driver or have you changed it for anduril?

I ask if there is the possibility of changing it in the other S21E as in the XHP50.3HI or the one where the firmware is to do it ourselves in the case that it is the same driver.

I haven’t seen any s21E but I read that it uses a different mic than Simon uses for his modified signature.

Do you use the full potential of Anduril 1?

I mean the temperature control improving as this has to be in accordance with the hardware.

And the last one.

Will we have version 2?

I would buy version 2 if you read my uploader post I like to control everything to be able to modify everything.

They are questions to find out if only ramping has been changed for anduril 1 with the functions but not with the advantages, because the hard doesn’t allow it.

Examples: led lighting of the button, on or off, improving temperature control, changing the temperature ceiling, etc.

Or simply instead of ramping we have a smooth ramp or stepped ramp plus turbo and the rest doesn’t work.

These are my doubts, why is the S21E XHP50.3HI version that I like.

Or an S21E with SST40 with ramping to be able to put Anduril 1 on it.

Thank you!!! Remember that I use a translator.

I just ordered one of the new S21Es. Of course it would be nice if it was Andúril 2. But no problem if not. Of course it would be nice if there were flashing pads. But no problem if not. For 2 reasons:

  1. It is a start for a new Convoy world! I am sure there will be improvements over the Convoy UIs in any case.

  2. And we should support Simon in what he is doing. Thanks, @Simon_Mao! :+1:

Yessss!!! It is incredible how it helps users and buyers, it deserves my respects.

2 Thanks

In other words, it is the same driver and firmware at the factory.
We have the option of accessing the micro to change it, but Simon’s firmware of his modified micro is not published or so I think.

Indeed! Anduril1 fixes everything I didn’t like about the other firmware, so yes, much praise for Simon, thanks a lot!

But Anduril2 would have made this more widely acceptable to others and as gifts I wanted to make, specifically because of SimpleUI that locks away the configurations behind 10H.

Great to see these developments coming through, bravo Simon!

I’m hoping to see the M3-C get Anduril, anyone know if that might be on the cards?

It would be a great way to introduce the new M3-C colours edition (:face_with_hand_over_mouth: ok I made that up, but I would love an all silver one!)

2 Thanks

Configure muggle mode the way you want it before you give it to someone. Problem solved.
We all want it “ALL” immediately. But this is certainly a step in the right direction for Simon.
BTW, I have given away a bunch of Convoy lights to non-addicts. Setting the 12 group UI to the mode I want before hand. I have never had anyone report any problems. About as simple as it gets.

I applaud Simon for taking this very positive step.

1 Thank

Thank you!

I think this is the right place for both constructive criticism and praise. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t root for Simon and I know he values user feedback.

The main thing I’d like to get across (and discuss if I’m actually wrong), is that SimpleUI, the default mode in anduril2, is an excellent UI in itself. It can be configured, from factory by Simon before flashing, however he feels his users would be comfortable with, but the defaults work great too.

The 12group UI is not really at stake here. I’m discussing simple ui (anduril2) vs anduril1 vs Convoy ramping. Id rather gift a light with the Convoy ramping than use “muggle mode” from Anduril 1. But simple UI is full featured and safer. The best for gift, or any casual customer of Convoy, in my opinion.

2 Thanks

If you check it out, you will find that you can setup muggle mode to behave quite a bit (almost identically) to be like the simple mode. From the user’s perspective, they will get a light that behaves the same.

Sure if someone resets the light, you lose that as the default. But that is not likely for the typical user.

But I wonder how important this is to the people that generally buy Convoy lights? Seems like a special use case.

I mentioned the 12 group lights, because they are a good option if all you want is a simple light for a beginner.
If you are worried about a simple mode, (at least until Simon may one day get A2 lights) that would be a good option.
But you do have that option.

1 Thank

yes,it’s 1.0 currently ,
Next, I will make version 2.0.
