Hum…maybe we can try again?
If the members that already have a Cu S2+ (and want or…need :smiling_imp: a shorty tube) & the ones that don’t have one, are interested in shorty tubes, maybe we can check with Simon again if he’ll manage to do them!
It would be neat to have male/male joining sleeves (the sleeve would be female on each end) in copper to connect multiple 18350 tubes together for use with, say, a 6V emitter such as the 50.2 or 70.2 or MT-G2, even 3 tubes for a 9V MT-G2. A fourth tube for a 50.2 quad in 2S2P for 12V operation from 4 cells… the options are very broad. The sleeves would act as grip along the length of the tube.
short tube needs a good saw, some sanding plane then solder with very little paste both pieces together
if the coating does not get damaged the result may look good enough or need some sort of mild sand blasting or so to hide the solder connection
I’m new here, and new to ordering things on Ali; it says this is out of stock. Is this because he has a limited number he isn’t posting stock? I’d love this with the metal switch, is that a possible order modification in order notes?
Also, I’m hoping to eventually start modifying flashlights. Should I only order the host or is it as easy to order the full flashlight and then take the other stuff out when I’m ready to get into modifications? I’m leaning that way but would like to do things as simply as possible to get started.
Hi and welcome to BLF Vortexbig
First warning, prepare your pockets :money_mouth_face:
Yup, the Convoy S2+ Copper seems to be out of stock right now. Maybe it will be re-added later! Or you can send a message on AliExpress to the seller (Simon Mao) and ask him about the availability!
About the metal switch in that light, please note that it is only available with the rubber button.
This version’s host is a “normal” one, not like the “Desert Tan” or the “Silver” with black metal button.
To put the metal switch in the “normal” hosts…it is possible (see here or here ), but the tailcap structure has to be modded. It can be done, but…I still don’t know how
About modding, I’ll only speak for my experience: I bought the “full” light and then started by replacing the LEDs, then the drivers. I guess many people here may have started other way, so I hope they can share!!
I think the only real difference is you miss out on using a retaining ring on the driver pill. I hate soldering drivers to pills and will choose a retaining ring whenever possible. Stock S2+ lights come with the driver soldered to pill and no ring.
Hell yes please! The only reason I didn’t get your copper S2+ is because of the knurling. I don’t really like how it looks, actually I don’t like it on any light to be honest, just doesn’t look good. If it’s just plain, I’d probably get a couple!
