I'm not too happy that those DQG/CQG lights have the emitter on the driver board even though it adds to the small size: the heatsinking is very limited (the board is not metal core), which is in the DQGAAA not so much of a problem, but the DQG18650 suffers significant light loss on the high setting (more than 20% compared to a well heatsinked emitter). Led-swapping is also a pain, I did swap the led on my DQGAAA but it was a horrible job and I almost ruined the light.
I actually like it lots. Would rather the LED was not directly mounted to the driver PCB but at 1.2A it's not driven that hard so it shouldn't effect performance that much. Not the type of light to leave on for more than a few minutes at a time anyway. Way sexier than any of the TF Mini series lights and the same price.
Some small questions:
Is the supplied battery a rechargeable battery?
If so, could it be charged by one of these cheap 18650 chargers (like this ), in combination with a dummy cell or spacers?
Are there similar lights available with a warm white tint?
I’m sorry these questions aren’t really related to this light.
It looks interesting, maybe I’ll get one it this one gets good reviews.
I received one of these a week or so back. The supplied battery had leaked so I threw it away immediately, but none of my 16340s or CR123 primaries fit (the light is too narrow, so batteries literally won’t fit at all), and Ric hasn’t replied to my email about it.
Does anyone know of any 16340s that will fit in this light?
Mine will be arriving either today or tomorrow. I will do a full review on it. Sure hope it doesn't have the same issues that Eciton is having. If it does it's an automatic loser no matter how nice it looks or is built.
