I'm pretty sure he's talking about one of these .
Lots of spacers are a pretty simple matter.using some wood like a spool? or PVC. this one appears a little more complicated .Prolly because I'm not sure exactly what's going on .

I remember thinking it looked like a thimble, and thought i needed to have a magnet to keep it from getting lost.
Maybe you could modify one to work.
Edit, probably make one from a copper water pipe.
Why? It’s inside the light regardless which battery you use. That’s why I like it.
It’s not in the light when your changing a cell in the dark. That is how I lost mine.
I figures a magnet would of kept in stuck to the cell. idk
