Dashboard Cams

Only this:

You can get the mirror mount separately, they are quite cheap.

I got a G1W from estore009 on ebay. It feels pretty cheap, but for $50 I like it and the video quality is pretty good. But I think I should have gotten the Capacitor version.

Thanks for the info, I also see they are promoting A118 on their deals page.
LOL. like the mini style, it will be great as a rear view.

Nice…thanks!

If you already have a “smart” phone and dashboard stand & wanted to get into the action “on the cheap” (like I know any other way), I happen to have a Samsung Galaxy SIII & downloaded an app called Dailyroads Voyager. I started using it on my original Droid, so it’s not about the SIII.

You mount the droid in a standard dashboard mount & aim the camera where you want it. Then the app dumps whatever the camera sees to SD card. It uses a temp folder for the oh-so-boring mile-after-mile stuff, then whenever it senses something like acceleration/deceleration or turning, or if you touch the screen, it dumps whatever is current to a “keepers” folder. You can still see the mile-after-mile if you must, but the “interesting” stuff is easier to find this way.

It overlays GPS, speed, direction, etc. as you configure it. And it keeps running in the background if you need Navigation or want to take a speakerphone or bluetooth call. Or you can leave it running and hand-carry the phone if you need to stop & see something like a wreck or police beating.

And the app is free unless you want extra features.

Plus, you can upload the videos just like any other data file, even within moments of the event. If you haven’t activated your data plan and only use the droid as a no-phone mini-tablet (guilty), it still works, you just have to get to a WiFi hotspot to upload videos.

It’s not as sexy as that one on the back of the rearview, but it works very well for me.

Hi Flomotion, If you have not bought this item yet be advised not to buy from GEARBEST you get no protection from their polite talking garbage
you would be better protected purchasing from EBAY mine came from GEARBEST and arrived doa (dead on arrival) and asked me to get it repaired
in a repair shop, would you believe it!!
rick…

I ended up with a Capacitor G1W-C from estore009 on ebay.
It’s been in the car for about 5 months, the suction cup is still stuck on the windscreen,
and the films are very clear. Easier to fit than I thought.
I would buy another.

Thanks for the information. I have been tossing around the idea of getting one of these.

i got one that was posted above, g1w-c. overall i like it, good quality for the money. but there is one problem with it, when memory gets full, it should erase the oldest file to free up space (according to manual) , however it erases oldest file in most recent folder. not in the oldest one, so it basicall, keeps erasing and rewriting 3 min clip (in my case 3 min), and when you take the card out to look at it on comp, the last folder will only have 1 file. 32g card records about 6 hours in 1080p.

Thank for the information too. This is another very interesting thread here, as I have been considering getting a dashcam.

There’s only one minor thing, I would prefer a 90 degree lens rather than a 120 degree.
I’m looking at the Innovv C3 with 90 degree lens for my motorbike. It was designed for bikes.
