DDH-M4B/SFP55(6v) 20,000+ Lumen goodness

Honestly direct drive is a crazy concept to me. AFAIK it just uses the internal resistance of battery/FET and the Vf of the LED to limit current? How do you avoid burning the LED - using the right battery combo? (It almost feels like shorting out the battery)

I’ve been designing a switching step-down driver to achieve similar 50ish amp outputs from a higher voltage source. The direct drive method seems rock simple in comparison.

I was worried about burning up the SFP55 with the Tenpower 50XG so I’m using Molicel P42A on this light now.
Also I originally designed this driver for the SFY55 so maximum current was the goal.

Yes, it’s definitely much simpler. I’m hoping to start working with Buck and then eventually Boost in the future but I need to finish a few projects first.
