Why? I’m not sure its possible that the thing could burn up, its not driven hard enough. Unless you are in a very hot climate. Mine is on a shelf too, but it does heat up the body…eventually…and not very much really.
I bridged a resistor and it runs a bit better. I just did the copper shelf and now the body warms up really well in a few mins. I’m messing around with it because I have no other torches to mess with at the moment. My multi meter broke so can’t do tail cap reading il fix it and see where I’m at. I’m happy with it for 99c
Just got this one. It is a better light than the one that was started on this thread.At least in these areas. It is brighter, less rings and has does NOT have that awful Purplish/Blue tint!! I guess it is more neutral White than Cool White.
I received another one of these this weekend and it had a better tint and I am really starting to like these cheap lights. I ordered another one for a friend that vapes and already has 18650’s.
I also got one of the above, while it’s decent, it’s not nearly as good as the Zeusray imo. At twice the price, the Zeusray
still seem the better buy to me. I’ve ordered another Zeusray for a friend who was thoroughly impressed with mine.
I plan to try it as a helmet light for MTB next time I ride.
The first one i received had next mode memory and the other one is same mode if left on for a certain amount of time. Havent checked how long you need to leave it on to remember though.
Thinking about putting in a red or green xpe and letting my sun put it on his pelet gun for a little night rabbit hunting. I think it should be right enough for the distance it can shoot.
This is one I’m going to downgrade to using a 4/3AA NiMH cell —- find a 1.2v driver and fit it into the thing.
I’m hoping to find a way to give my, er, “last year’s” flashlights to people, but not give them lithium-ion cells.
The 4/3AA NiMh is the same size as the 18560 li-ion.
It won’t be efficient or bright — except compared to everything else they have!
(if I can find such a driver, of course; DX has just one and the comments there say “efficiency is terrible at 1.2-1.3v”, I don’t know if that’s just how it is — because boosting up from 1.2v is necessarily only about 40-something percent efficient — or if this one’s even worse than it ought to be )
