Disabled vet and new Flashaholic needs help..badly...reposted this in CORRECT place on here..sorry

I was going to suggest the Roche F6 or F12. And thank you for your service.

Convoy M1, not a big light at all. More like a P60 sized. Seems he is looking more for P60, for belt carry.

I thought the convoy s2 with a tir sounds like a perfect match here ..he sounds like he likes the flood to throw ...Just not the blinky modes and hates the square led projecton in throw mode .

i personally think everyone loves a tir / crisp clean edge ..

I'd get one with a bunch of throw and then if you wanted I'd add diffuser material in some sort of pop on ... ( like the cap of a milk jug) ..to make it a quicky smooth flooder.. sort of best of both worlds ..

if it were ME i'd buy two lights..but thats me

Armytek Partner-series offer the choice of large or more focused spot type of beam, and achieve a great TIR beam. Simple interface with 2 modes, and you get to choose the tint too (their warmer tint is very nice!). Welcome to the forum!

Convoy M1 with MT-G2. Turn it on and you’ll see everything. Great for close up because it doesn’t have a glaring hot spot. Maintenance was peering into my forklift motor with his penlight and I shone my M1 in the bay. He said wow. You could make out fingerprints from previous maintenance workers.

Flashaholic 1,
Welcome to the best damn flashlight forum on the web!

Here is one of member 18sixfifty previous offers;

I just received 2 of the Modded Ultrafire 502b’s that he previously made with the regular factory XM-L T6 de-domed and can tell you he makes one hell of a nice inexpensive flashlight for this little of cash.
Easy 700+ legit lumens out the front.

I am sure if he still has any 502 hosts in stock, he will build you one for a fair price and best of all he is here in the good ol’ USA so the shipping is quick.

If you want more run time, make sure to tell him that so he does not jack up the amperage too far and have you running through batteries quickly.
HTH and thank you Sir for all you have done for this country,

Keith

Can we stop the shelling for Simon please! Anyways, +1 on the S2+, thats what I order with the exact same driver and LED! Total cost = $12.49! Also, that TIR sounds like a good idea actually. Just the driver and emitter is at least $8-$9 by itself!

To the OP, thank you for your service!

Howdy and welcome to BLF.

Welcome Flashaholic1

Touche’, my formerly-leguminous friend! I only meant to share a nice host, built, at an empty-host price; and it’s only on sale this week. Or next week… It’s hard to say.

I confess I’m still confused by the parameters:

The tight “spot light type” beam means “Throw”, but throwers absolutely suck at “upclose usage”… IMNERHO, of course.

Whenever I end up with a “thrower”, I end up giving it away. E.g. the half-dozen or so C8s I tried (not looking for different results, I just liked them at first). E.g. the hugely expensive, pencil-beam incans from Streamlight, etc. from last decade… I just don’t ever use the light “out there” that a “bright centered beam” gives me. (Except for the gun lights… Run, poodles, run!)

The second quote sounds more like me. For all the playing I do with lights, I actually need good ones for work. I need to illuminate my Area of Operations (“AO”) and don’t care if the light hits something “out there” where I am not. Thus the 60° optic. And the 20mm TIRs only fit the cylindrical “roll-of-coins” lights, not P60s. And I recently finished a very disappointing update of a roll-of-nickels with a reflector only to find a wee ~15° beam, with the usual dumb Cree rainbow of odd colors & the dark rings and all. But it’s not about me.

I worked months, one-to-eight hours at a time, for the local VA, plus my family has enough current- and ex-military to start our own army (my UDT Uncle would say “NAVY!”, and I never argue with anyone who can single-handedly sink an entire Japanese Battleship, but I digress)… I never engage customers in conversation, but I watch and study everything. I see guys struggling over stuff you and I might not even think about, so I do empathize strongly with the OP and his needs. Just having a hard time pinning down a specification list I could build to. Hence why I simply offered to take whatever struck his fancy & building it to his idea of perfection…

But it appears our OP may have un-assed our AO already…

Welcome. I’ll second the recommendation for the XinTD C8 V5. Either in XP-G2 (has better range, but smaller center spot) or XM-L2 (personal preference… not as much distance but you can see more [wider area] at each given distance… m ore lumens)

http://intl-outdoor.com/xintd-c8-v5-xml2-t6u2-multioption-18650-flashlight-p-308.html

I always recommend a neutral white option when possible. The T6 4D looks to be the winner there.

Conveniently there is an option on the product page for a holster also. For 2$ I like these.

If you could tell us more about your application and needs we could help with the driver-modes and switch selection too.
