I bought a couple of power banks in the past and both of them broke down.
If your selfphone has a micro usb input you can travel and have this (1…. 2….) as a charger. You will only need to charge the torch by night and use the wire to charge your phone during day from the flashlight. it is a good option actually

My android phone was the same way when I first got it. There are several apps on the play store to monitor and control battery use. I don’t recall which ones helped me - I had to experiment, but I did manage to reduce battery consumption by about 40%. I think it varys a bit between phones because of different versions of android and apps that you’re running.

Thanks for posting this, I have been looking for a modeable charger/flashlight for days…
Sadly the star makes almost no contact to the tube, I will order one and check what can be improved.

We will see how much room there is.
Another important point is the driver and his current and if it is improvable.
I guess it will take 3 weeks until it arrives.

I am not sure what you mean with the 1A thing?
My phone has a wall charger which is stated 1A but it charges only 0.8A max and like said above with rising battery% the current decreases…
But my phone don’t charge with full current on all setups, it only enables high current charging if the datalines are shorted which can be made easily on this DIY kit.

Important is the battery capacity:
2500mAh*0.8 efficiency/1.6Ahphonecapacity=1.25. So I will be able to recharge about 125% of my phone…

Anyone kinda concerned that the directions direct the buyer to solder wires to the battery ?

I see no problem in soldering wires to a battery…
Scaru reported once with a similiar one cell power bank from fasttech that the circuit shorted the battery and this caused heating the connection wire(he ripped it into pieces to prevent further problems), but KD gives even a hint to use better insulating material.

What I am wondering is if the battery comes with the kit, and if one is included if it is a Samsung like on the pictures, one picture shows a battery with a spot welded piece of metal on them…these questions will be all answered in some weeks…

Today my kit came, look at the “battery” must be one of the new iron cells…?

Charges my phone with 0.45-0.8A depending on battery voltage, discharge protection at 2.5V. After the device goes in protection it can only be activated with plugging in a charging cable. Datalines have a 1.9kohm resistance. Maximum current from battery was 1.4A.
One short press enables the USB output(indicates by blue LED), long press enables the led light.
Led current less than 350mA so no heatsink necessary.
Cables are 22AWG.
All in all quite nice.

I have to test the 18650 charging circuit and make a picture to show the dimensions next to some other one 18650 lights.

Space for driver is available so I think I have to figure out how to mod it.

I got an answer from KD, there is no battery in the kit and they have no clue how the bearings came in the envelope…
I modded it with a xml2, used the original driver with a modification of the resistor to get around 1.5A through the led. Easy mod very nice host.
