Do you care about famous people passing away ?

.
A man with wisdom. We will ALL be touched by death and many by death before our death.
To truly appreciate life one must also respect death, its opposite. To experience the death of a
close at heart loved one will grow sympathy for others who experience death likewise.
Let us practice, to make our experiences, make us better, not bitter.

Yeah, and with access to healthcare that us proles will never see.

There’s only two people in recent memory that I can recall were absolute shockers to me when they unexpectedly passed and that was yesterday with Kobe and in 2014 when Robin Williams passed. I’m generally not a “OMG look there’s a famous person” kinda guy, maybe because I’ve been fortunate to know/have met several in my lifetime. But when the ones that I actually watched quite a bit die unexpectedly and tragically, I tend to follow the story for the first couple days following.

If they die due to natural causes, aka old age, it doesn’t bother me. Reference Hugh Hefner, Johnny Cash, George Jones. Even though I grew up listening to Johnny and George and sneakin a peek at my dads ‘hidden’ playboys, their deaths were just another celebrity passing.

I think it's a good question and we probably all ask ourselves how we feel about such a death .

It may depend on how we look at others or if we are the type who idolizes others etc .

My thoughts went immediately to his daughter and I felt badly for those who had lost their loved ones ,but especially a child .

I've never been a fan and don't think dribbling ,kicking or blowing up a ball makes anyone better than the next guy . famous people know fans are fickle and one minute think they love you ...and the next want to skin you for saying something they disagree with .

Today it's time to mourn with them that mourn ...But I like the person who asks the hard question that forces us to take our temperature on the matter .

Wow! Okay. Wishing that I die. Nice. And you say I have an attitude problem???

BTW, wishing another community member dies, is probably against the rules. I’m not positive about that, but I’m guessing it’s probably the case. No, I’m not going to snitch on you for it, but you should probably tone down your “attitude problem” in the future. When I have a bad day, I don’t go around hoping people die. But your post makes for some good irony, so lol.

Some may not admit it, but… Death is a preacher that EVERYONE has to deal with.

Starting with and including Raccoon’s post here, please go back and delete posts related to this recent skirmish. Thank you.

Also, please carefully avoid divisive and controversial topics, and drop the subject if you or somebody else is starting to get angry.

Done!

Thanks a lot! Bump.

Bump again.

To help keep the peace, please completely delete the posts from here onward that were part of this fight.

Okay, I did it.

(Now your link is invalid.)

As it turns out, I was having a bad day yesterday.

Sorry for screwing up, boss!

Thanks a lot, now there’s only a few more posts to delete by another user.

l ooooooo ll

I hope he’s ok , he hasn’t logged on for 3 weeks.

I remember my mom crying when Lyndon Baines johnson. I was upset when Brandon Lee died, since I was so immersed in the sub-culture of martial arts, and idolizing his father. Kobe made basketball more than stats, championships and rings. He made you part of the family as proven by those that were with himin those last moments.
Then again when old-Lumens passed away, it bothered me but i was prepared since my wife was suffering through her cancer at the time. I talked to his wife several times after that and SHE comforted ME with what we were faced with. When she died I cried.

I couldn’t care less about actors, sports figures, most musicians, politicians.

I care about scientists, inventors and some writers.

The famous people I don’t know personally who died recently that I actually cared about:

  • Mike Resnick, Science fiction author
  • Christopher Tolkien, son and editor of J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Ursula Le Guin, Science fiction and Fantasy author
  • Sally Floyd, Internet traffic and congestion control specialist

Ones I miss the most;

Actors and funnymen;
John Candy
John Belushi
Robin Williams

Musicians;
Phil Lynott
John Lennon
Lemmy

Politician;
Only one ever;
John Heinz

Watch this video and realize that money and fame could not save them from death, everyone’s enemy.
We should never be complacent about death, its results, or affects on everyone.
And we created famous people for our entertainment.
