I just found this gem:

my google-fu senses are tingling…
AHA!!! FOUND IT!!! (do I get a cookie?)

If tried other brands and tastes but this one was my favorite.
These days I actually don’t buy them anymore. Last time I ate one is maybe 6 months ago or something. No specific reason for it, I still like them.
This thread is making me hungry. Thirsty too.
I usually make my Ramen in the microwave and add an egg. Mmm….
In the US, we use Ramen to mean any instant noodle. I like to eat Mama myself, as well as many others mentioned here.
Especially in colleges, we joke about being so poor, we go on to a ramen diet!
I have several cases of different types bought from online shops and local Thai shop they last forever and can be made it a wide variety of dishes. I use them mainly in soups/stews and stirfry, but i have also crushed them up for a crunchy addition to salads and alike. Ground up they work a a thickener for stews and soups.
All those college kids eating ramen and knowing sod all about cooking and not wanting to interrupt there gaming and porn browsing to do some research. Please do not confuse them with the cheap noodles crap in the large multipul supermarkets in europe especially.
Hit the asian supermarkets and look around, i find alot of things are cheaper and in larger packets than the “normal” supermarkets
Before you brush ramen off as college junk food or survival nut supplies please do alittle research on how the japanese use ramen, I first experienced them while my parents where stationed at Embassies around asia.
Wolf, I’m a college kid, but I’m no stranger to the “real” ramen’s available in the world. As well, I do often “spruce” them up when I can!
Oh my god it is the end of the world ![]()
I love Ramen, not so much the cup noodles, but the ones we eat in Ramen shops.. some are really great..they are about 5-10 dollars, but very enjoyable.
ramen was mentioned in one of the eps of Orange is the New Black, Season 2. funny. easy to digest show :D
crazy name..
You could add this soup base to the noodles.

I went to Japan last year and I tried a strange ramen shop (for a non japanese I mean).
It was near shibuya station, under a train bridge. I had to choose the ramen I want on a machine and pay directly on it before eating. I got a receipt that I handled to an employee.
I told to that employee that I didn’t want vegetables (yeah it’s not healthy), but I said it in english. The guy gave me some money back but there was vegetables in my ramen…
I also tried the ramen museum in shin-yokohama, a strange post war ambiance.
FYI, I think a lot of the ramen shops are like that, where you pay at a machine and then get a stub/ticket.
STUPID THREAD!! I WANT RAMEN AGAIN NAOOOOO ![]()
Yeah, if you look in the middle of the left side of the package, you can see they really mean to make the connection with that name!
We just changed our 28-year old cover for the Shin Ramen:

The company states that it altered the proportions of the ingredients that the noodles don’t get soggy as quickly and a slight change to the flavoring of the soup as well.
Uh-oh! I hope they changed it better! Gourmet Spicy was my favorite flavor!!
I was greatly saddened to find that the pack of Shin Ramyun Black that I thought I had left here over the weekend, I had already eaten last week
Black label has a few extra veggies, and larger chunks of veggies and mushrooms, and the broth is more of a spicy salt broth than a spicy fiery pepper broth.
But yeah, for those of you who haven’t had it, Maruchan pales in comparison. I can actually only find it locally in some international markets, and surprisingly, walmart.
I think the new packaging is better. Attention is drawn to the tasty bowl rather than the yellow/red area, and it says “Shin Ramyun” too.
I don’t think there is anything worse than soggy noodles. Maybe soggy shoes?
