Dry 3 x XM-L T4 7C. Coming Soon : T5 Neutral White

I see, well at least you have the NW, which is well worth the price esp if you like the 4000k CCT (I like the slightly warm NWs instead of the cooler NWs).

I'll see when it arrives what the specific color is because i have no idea with the brightness of the light and not having other NW lights what it will be like :). But i guess the NW is less warm than shown on your 4 light comparison?

Yes, a bit cooler than the colour in my 4 light comparison. Because for cameras we can tune the white balance to whatever preference we want.

So the shadow NW is slightly warmer than the Dry NW? How do they compare in tint color (cream/green/red, etc)?

Yes, the Shadow TC6 has slightly warmer colour temp than the DRY NW....even when my DRY NW is in 850 lumens mode (0.7A). Both have no wierd tints, but cream is a new word to me.

But yes, i have seen some 3528 and 335 emitters neutral whites on LED strips which give you a slightly green tint, best way to see this is on skin colour. If it look wierd, it looks wierd. Skin is the best way to test, coz your brain always see skin everyday.

Purchased 2 pcs of 54mm x 1.9mm UCL for the NW and 1pc of Acrylite® FF P-99 diffusion lens (just a wee bit of diffusion) for the DRYs. The DRY is actually 55mm but then i don't need to submerge my light underwater. The Sky Ray/Trustfire you need to buy 52mm.

Well I think with good protected cells with good PCBs you shouldn't worry. My Solarforce 2400 pack one of the cells dropped to 2.8V and the other 2 are 3.1V, the PCB cut out and hence no light. This is powered in series, so no light. No worries of reverse charging or all those stuff.

I thought i burned my DRY, was really afraid at first. Switched it off and turned it on, ok....but 3 seconds later it switched off. Tried like 6 times before i did a voltage measurement. Ahh.... Used another pack, ok no problem. Cool!

But if you use those Ultrafire blue cells 2400, 3000mAh, good luck.

Seems to be a lot of failing triple XM-Ls made by a different manufacturer. Has anybody had a failure with a Dry yet? Do you all baby your Drys or do you ride them hard?

Gone through two sets of bestinone's IMRs after using it mostly on low (got the 3 mode neutral white). I'm currently using the new Sanyo 2600 and it seems to last for a while as I have yet to drain them.

No failures i heard yet about from the DRY i ordered, one failure only from the KD C8 i ordered... So let's keep it that way. What are the main things i should do when receiving these lights? I'm afraid i might break something when cleaning :). Are there more regular household products i could use for cleaning, luping or do i really need specialised things? Or is it just smarter to keep my hands off as a techno-newbie.

You need to clean off the machine oil from the threads. Just plain wiping/toilet paper would do, if you have some rubbing isopropyl alcohol you can use that as well.

Would a product like turpentine oil be fine as well? Toilet paper shouldn't be a problem :p

By threads you mean the parts of the tube. So i shouldn't touch parts like driver or battery coils?

appreciate the help!

Better don't touch the driver with any solvents other than alcohol, i mean just use toilet paper to wipe. Can use cotton buds. If you are feeling rich, you can finish with a cut-out small patch of microfibre. Better don't use thinner or those stuff....can try methylated spirit, one big bottle is a few bucks only....can clean your other stuff too.

Best is to go to the pharmacy and get isopropyl rubbing alcohol or medicinal grade methylated spirit. Contained in easier to use bottles as well.....not too ex as well, a few bucks per 150ml bottle.

If you want to try, can use some electrical contact cleaners. For the DRY, since there is somewhat high current, its good to occcasionally clean as well, coz a bare surface aluminum will oxidise into aluminum oxide. There really is nothing you can do about that, but just to continue cleaning every few months.

The threads in the DRY is pretty ok even if you leave it bone dry. Do not put lube on it, for performance.

DRY 3xCREE XM-L T6 cool white 3 mode at 70m

Compared to Sky Ray 3xT6

less difference then i would have expected, if i see this my NW 4-mode i'm receiving within x weeks might be dimmer than the sky ray :o

Oatmanutd, welcome to BLF! Unfortunately i don't know thai, so can't join thaicpf...heh heh.

Maybe you are too used to wall beam shots comparisons. At a distance things don't differ that much .

I remember when I bought a 300lumesn flashlight (Eagletac), I thought it's going to wipe the floor with the 200L. Well I t wasn't like that. It was just slightly brighter.

I think there is less difference between lights at a distance when they have the same beam pattern and not more than 50% lumen difference. When I say distance mean mean 70-100meters, not 25 meters

Sounds logical indeed :) ty!

Some recent beamshots. DRY 3xXML WW - the last one.

Parameters: ISO200, F4, 6sec, white balance: sun.

What's the distance to that tree? 25m?
