Suomi, I think it varies by state, but yes after a certain amount of time (24 hours here) they will adjust the bill for extended service loss. Same for Cable service.
Friday night we lost power. Used my Uniquefire UF-2180 as a “lantern” (turned it on and set it on its tailcap, bounced light off the ceiling) while I did my business in the bathroom, which included taking my night meds and brushing my teeth. If the light were more diffused, it would be about the same brightness as the 60W CFL equivalent that normally lights the bathroom.
We had some “warning” though that the power was going to go out. The lights had gone out twice for about a minute about 10 minutes before the lights went out for good. At the first outage, my wife asked me where the flashlights were, so I grabbed one in the kitchen (power had come back on the first time by the time I got the light) gave that to her, then ran to get mine and, found my 2180 after the lights had gone out the second time and had to feel in the dark. When the power finally went out for the night, I had to help my son find his light.
Lucky for us, power was only out for 13 hours or so. Some of my coworkers still don’t have power.
Time to get into some solar panels.
145 watt panels
For 160 shipped each I went and got a few.
Maybe I can cushion the strain on my wallet for Texas electricity.
I did the same. Worth-every-penny.
Welcome to BLF, Nope 586. I am curious, how do you define “hot” in Nova Scotia? I’m serious, BTW, as I’m thinking about taking a motorcycle road trip up there.
Thanks. : )
Hot in Nova Scotia seems to be anywhere above 70F, daily highs for this week seems to be hovering around 77F. Right now it’s 8:30pm and it’s still 71F. Supposed to go down to 57F overnight and be 78F tomorrow.
In the middle of the summer though it’s not uncommon to hit 85F+, this is when we utilize our plentiful beaches.
As with everywhere else close to the ocean being near the coast will drop the temp a few degrees, it’s usually about 10C hotter in the center of the province compared to the coast.
If you’re planing a motorcycle trip be sure to check out the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, it’s something else.
Thanks, Nope. It sounds like paradise.
I hope you dont need air condition when it hits 77°F. :P
77 sounds perfect. Hot here is 95+
Cone my ex wife’s family is from Moncton, New Brunswick and we took a motorcycle trip up there every summer for ten years. When riding in Nova Scotia morning and evening it gets foggy and cold and you get wet. Try to ride during the day as much as possible moose, deer and lots of other critters are everywhere at night. Be prepared for the weather to change almost instantly. Take the ferry from Portland, Maine to avoid the long haul through Maine so you can get to the good riding quick and rested. We always tried to take as many ferry rides as we could there are many that save lots of time.
Been so hot here in the milwaukee area, high 90’s the past few weeks. Just went to a brewer game and our seats were 9th row, but in the sun the whole time. Left in 7th inning to go to fireworks though. I personally like it cool, I like 65 during the day max, no sun, with a slight breeze. And around 50 when sleeping in my room.
Thanks, E. I’ll bare all that in mind. I’ve ridden up by you quite a bit: Laconia for the race every now and again, plus I dream of moving to Maine or New Hampshire. I head north every chance I get. Never into Canada, on a bike, anyway, but I want to change that. This would also be a dual sport ride, so cold and wet = fun.
