I’ll have to do more research on that.
According to these links, the opposite is true, but I don’t know where the truth lies…

Yeah, I use Afta Pre-Electric shave lotion, which is really inexpensive, but it makes a big difference for shaving my neck.
You could be right as those sites are usually spot on, it was from a couple of old YouTube reviewers when they first came out and some posts on Reddit but no doubt they’re a bit subjective. Link
Oooh I’ll have to give it a whirl. I was going to try the Speick stuff as it seems to get good reviews too so the more the merrier just to try.
By the way, the only Pre-Electric shave lotion I have used is Afta.
I don’t know if Afta is any good or not compared to other brands.
Thanks for the heads up. Going to try a couple to see which one I prefer. I’ve been using the Blue Stratos for ages as it’s cheap n cheerful so a change might be good. Reminds me I need some Braun cleaning fluid too. Was tempted to try making my own but keep putting myself off trying. I just clank the lid back on the cartridge and it lasts ages so I need to stop being so frugal.
Does this count as an electric shaver…

I’ve had a couple shavers, foil and rotary. Whilst the rotary was good (can’t remember the brand) i still preferred a razor. When i saw my daughter had one of these gillette buzzing razors i said “i need that!”
I have decided to try to get a Panasonic Arc 5.
Looks like a Panasonic replacement foil/blades combo starts at about $47 on eBay.
If I just need the foil or just the blades, then it would of course be less.
Ooh lemme know what you think when it arrives. It could be the one to sway me to the darkside. There’s that many revisions it’s confuddling. Think I had my eye on one of the LV-6 series previously but then saw the LV-9 so decided to give up and have a cuppa.
I order an ES-LV65-S from eBay.
This would be the Amazon equivalent:

Oooh sexy. Think it was this one I had my eye on previously which is missing the S off the end but looks similar link That site said there’s an updated model which is the 67 but I think it looks cheap compared to the 65 one Link
Yeah, I was looking for something somewhat cheap and close to brand new on eBay.
The model that looked good on eBay happens to be the bestselling Panasonic shaver on American Amazon, and it does look sexy.
The feedback on Amazon looks pretty good, and the eBay auction has free returns so if I prefer Braun I can just return the Panasonic.
Be interested to find out your results as most of the reviews say it shaves closer but can be a bit more aggressive on sensitive skin with the series 9 being more comfortable and gentle. Oooh exciting times. Has it been delivered yet? How’s about now?
Yeah, the Panasonic should shave closer and be more aggressive.
Luckily, I don’t think I have sensitive skin.
The real question (for me) is whether the Braun or the Panasonic will be better with my neck hairs.
If it’s a toss up, I might as well try to sell the expensive Braun and keep the cheaper Panasonic.
Yeah the price difference is crazy. They were near enough the same price when released but the Panasonic has came down massively where the Braun just holds it price forever. The Panasonic market in Japan is huge though and they release version we can’t get. The cheek of them link
It is possible to get the Japanese Panasonic shavers.
There are ways to order from Japanese Amazon, but it’ll cost you quite a bit extra and it’s not super easy.
Wonder if they’re cheaper. Need to do some digging methinks. I’m trying to work out why this one is so expensive. Nearly 400 quid. Eeek link
Here’s a guide on how to order from Japanese Amazon.

I haven’t done this, but I have ordered from Taobao (in China) through a proxy service.
Reading through that I think I’ll stick with what’s available in the UK. Ouch at paying over the odds. On a different note how spooky is that. Half way down and he mentions the preshave I was thinking about trying, the Speick one. Tinternets haunted I tells yee.
I live in the U.S.
I’m still waiting for my Panasonic shaver.
Eventually, I’m going to choose between Braun and Panasonic.
The other main brands of shavers are Norelco and Remington, and I have used all four major brands.
The 80th anniversary of D-Day is this Thursday, and I’ve been thinking about WWII countries and the major shaver brands.
Should I use Remington?
Nah, they’re American.
How about Norelco?
No way, they’re Dutch and the Netherlands was neutral an American ally in WWII.
What about Braun (from Germany) or Panasonic (from Japan)?
Now that’s the ticket!
(No offense to anyone around the world. I’m just being silly.)
