Emergency car use light

So what do you think of the D40a ?

Has the missus stolen it yet :slight_smile:

The D40a is comfortable in the hand no hotspot as far as i can tell the interface with the 2 buttons is much easier to use than the EA4.
The reflector is light orange peel and ensures smooth spot and spill but still with good throw much better than my EA4W.
The Low battery indicator is a good feature between us we used up 12 eneloops in 2 nights messing about with turbo kept testing the 3.5 minute cutout feature. [that’s our excuse and we are sticking to it]
speaking of modes D40a has

Turbo = 980 lumens (to avoid overheating, drops to High after 3 minutes)
High = 550 lumens, 1.7 hours
Medium = 220 lumens, 4 hours
Low = 30 lumens, 31 hours
Moon Mode = 1 lumen, 480 hours

To access moon mode, Starting with the torch turned OFF, Press and HOLD the power button, The torch turns on in “moon mode”. If you turn the torch off in moon mode, it will turn on again in moon mode.

The mode button will now cycle to Low then Turbo, High, Medium, Low but will NOT cycle back to moon mode.
To reactivate Moon mode, turn the torch off then back on again holding the power button down.

Moon Mode is useful for those middle of the night trips to the loo, enough light to avoid the bloody cat, daft dog and assorted toys
Belt holster for the torch with D-Ring for hanging, a sewn in belt loop & a velcro down MOLLE compatible strap.

All in all the D40a beats the hell out of the EA4w in my IMHO.

The missus has kindly allowed me to keep the first D40a and let me order acouple more as well as 36 more eneloop batteries. As the saying goes “I wear the trousers in my household because my wife told me so”.

Now all I have to do is wait for the Starry Light SA-22 BLF Edition, if it is good i’ll be buying shares in sanyo

Have a good weekend people and take care.

for those that like consistent beam shots this is a great site to compare and contrast lights
