Emisar headband is available.

Thefreeman’s driver is 18W (6V * 3A), so the ideal battery should handle up to a 6A drain (3V * 6A = 18W).

It’s similar to the D3AA - if you’re using a USB-C 14500 cell, it’s best to disable turbo mode to avoid tripping the cell’s protection circuit.

thank you very much for teaching me how to determine required battery amperage correctly.

As you have calculated 6A CDR for Turbo, would you choose H10 for KR1AA? (and would you pick button or flat top?)

I agree that disabling Turbo is what allows me to use 3A and 4A CDR USB 14500 without tripping protection in my D3AA.

Can you educate me a bit further how the D3AA manages to work on Turbo, w non USB batteries that only have 3A CDR?
(afaik, the majority of 14500 batteries have 3A CDR).

When using turbo mode, thefreeman’s driver tries to draw about 18W from the battery. If the battery can’t supply that much, it just pulls as much as it can. So, turbo with an H10 cell (10A CDR) is slightly brighter than with a battery that can only deliver around 4–5A under load.

For example you can see this difference with the Wurkkos TS10v2 (the older batch with the better emitters) - the H10 provides so much current in turbo that the emitters take on a bluish tint, something that doesn’t happen with the default battery (around 3A? CDR). That’s why I don’t use the H10 in my TS10s.

Another thing is that in the past few months, a batch of H10 batteries (maybe just the button-top ones?) has shown self-discharge issues (reddit). Until we know more, I can’t fully recommend the H10 with confidence. My older H10s (mostly flat-tops) work fine though.

It would be nice to hear something from Vapcell on this. All of the 10 H10s that I have are just fine BTW. About half flat top and half button top. But none any newer than about 8 months old. I would not hesitate to use them in a KR1AA when I get one… As long as there are no length problems.

As far as new ones, I am a bit skeptical and will be until I hear something official saying that they have identified and fixed the problems that people are seeing.

I’ve got some h10 and f15 from that I ordered from Convoy around summer, they seem to be ok. They fit well in my d3aa.

@Hankwang 3030 is possible another option?

if you buy one of the KR1AA and manage to mod it to produce more throw, I hope you will share how you accomplish that

Yes.. it’s a pleasure.. but I am busy with work and I have to mod 10 flashlights with various products and there’s no time for me to do that
So I hope Hank do this project with large pcb like 5050 and 3030. The osram culmn is perfect. The problem is 9V driver with this led
