EMP proof?

With respect, regarding Brexit, you don’t have a clue what you are talking about and if you lived in the UK or spent time in any UK city you would see why that is a very inaccurate statement and complete rubbish, you have clearly taken what you said from the likes of the left wing guardian newspaper, which suprised me, as from reading some of your posts (not this one) you didn’t strike me as some who takes what they read at face value and just regurgitates it.
But as others have said you do seem to jump to random things in your replies to this thread.

Anyway I’m quite happy to continue to debate emp and anything with at least some relevant to Emp ( but let’s not stray to far, so no electric cars unless it’s to do with their ability to withstand or not emp)
But I certainly don’t want to discuss the here and not politics of my country or yours not related directly to Emp. No offence ment or taken by that last bit, it’s just how I feel,I like that blf is political free pretty much

Obviously If you have solid proof that Trump, Clinton and the Brexit team wear EMP proofed pants and keep their flashlights in them in case of emp attack , then that is acceptable to the theme of this thread

OK OK Ok please no politics…

On topic, question was
How do our lights fare in case of an EMP.

Answer, when off they probably will be OK with the driver neatly in a Faraday cage and in case of a ALU reflector only the LED exposed
Making the direction where the light is pointing while on and a EMP strikes something to look at.
Yet real good prepared people have a few lights in a Faraday cage just to be sure

Yes does sound like a flashlight would probably survive ok,still think in that sort of situation I’d put a couple in a Faraday cage though to be doubly sure.
Much like carrying a spare flashlight or two on your person when caving in case you loose/damage or get separated from your main kit.

Plus having a Faraday cage sounds like a good excuse to buy more flashlights to fill it with
You can never have enough flashlights, protected or not

Ah good thinking!
“Honey we need to get a Faraday cage”
“Honey I ordered some lights for the Faraday cage since water and food is capable of surviving the EMP, those radios and walkie talkies seem lonely”

Miller, ROTFLMAO!

Just thinking “out loud”…

Yup. A steel ammo box is easy enough. Or the garbage can inside a garbage can solution.

If I have a warning I’ll disconnect the PV panels and genny to shorten the run of wiring into the house. The mains will be fried; that’s a given, so of course disconnect from that. Spare charger and flexible PV panels will need to be bought as backup. I need to put an easily accessible DC switch near the hard PV panels to disconnect them and not just a fuse. Of course unplug everything if there’s a warning.

Sure am glad now that I kept a couple of old fashioned, unmodified MAG lights. :+1:
