You don’t really heat the battery when you add a solder blob. The positive post is like a added on top piece. You only add heat for about 3 or 4 seconds at most. Once the solder melts and makes a blob you can touch it with a damp paper towel or rag. The heat gets sucked into that and the battery just gets a little warm on the end. No big deal really.
You might ask a local electronics repair place if they can do it for you. They could probably do 4 cells in less than 1 minute. Or ask if any of your friends are good at soldering. There are also videos of it on YouTube.

Just FYI, Sony VTC6 flat top cells work in this light and the run time is very good. I estimate this light is close to 5000 lumens with great throw!
