Entering flashaholic stage

Welcome to the circus MountainMan. This is a place where all sorts of people can do all sorts of tricks. Where there is a will there is a way and this place is loaded with all sorts of "don't tell me it can't be done" LOL. Simply amazing people and stuff they do!

ImA4Wheelr has officially warned you to run but from the looks of it you will also ignore that as most of us did Once you see how you can save money, hot rod virtually any light, you will find yourself getting strange looks from friends and family they watch the transformation caused by the "bug".

I started lurking here almost three months ago. I needed to find a replacement for a Streamlight Strion for work purposes. In the end because of budget I ended up purchasing a Fenix PD35. I can say that it is a quality light and I have no regrets over it but I learned there are many comparable alternatives for a lot less $$. While searching for a good light I became amazed and intrigued by what these guys do and BAM I was bitten. Up to now I have been buying and adding the 1" tube lights to the arsenal because they are so easy for me to carry around (links below).

I really know nothing of the P60 stuff but trying to learn as much about it as I can. I guess the P60 standard is set by the SolarForce, and priced very reasonably. The resident SF expert around here is gentleman that goes by Foy. I have plans to add a couple SF down the road.

Because my Fenix set the bar (for me) I went with the following:

http://www.banggood.com/Eagle-Eyes-X6-CREE-XML2-U2-1A3C-5modes-LED-Flashlight-p-929537.html (Expect it here in a couple days)

I also have committed to 4 of these (factory hot-rodded Eagle Eye X6's thanks to several members here)

...and a couple Nitecore (P12 and P10). Next will be a couple parts and doodads from Mtnelectronics..and if I screw that up I will just ask him to build the lights for me as he is very reasonably priced.

The point that I am trying to make is that before you delve too far into re-working an old light look into the alternatives. If P60 is what you are after, look at the SF and use that as a measure. Even on a "budget" (as all of us are) you will be surprised at what you will accomplish here. (FYI - The letters "BLF" usually get you 5-8% off when you use as a coupon code)
