I was hoping that carrying a strong light would keep them away from me.
I heard that feral hog if it doesn’t have piggies won’t attack you if not provoked.
There is no way that she can suprise me because i know how to spray from the hip if the attack happens very fast.
I think that bear spray keeps me safe unless there are more than 1 boar. Then i’m preety much dead i think.
Regarding a knife. No, it won’t do you much good if its charging you. But it come in handy if it gets you down and starts chewing on you foot or something. Just cut through your leg at the ankle or knee. If it’s got your thigh though, just slit your own throat, so you’ll bleed out quicker.
eas has a great point. In such a dire, emergency situation, if you are good with handgun safety: a Ruger Alaskan in any of the 3 offered calibers. You can’t be careful enough with gun safety remember.
Copied from Wikipedia: In August 2009, Greg Brush, from Soldotna, Alaska, was walking his dog when an Alaskan brown bear charged him. Drawing his .454 Casull Ruger Alaskan while rapidly backpedaling, he fired three shots in quick succession into the bear; followed by a fourth and final shot. The fifth round failed to discharge due to a defective crimp where the unfired bullet slips forward in the casing, due to heavy recoil and loose pressure from the cartridge casing, far enough to interfere with cylinder rotation. The animal was stopped 10 feet (3.0 m) beyond Brush’s original starting position
How i pull out all of this?
I already have bear spray + flashlight +now boar spear?
I don’t have 3 hands.
Let’s say that boar starts charging at me and my first weapon is a bear spray, in my other hand is a flashlight
How I will use a spear? I would have to drop down my 66$ bear spray to use a spear?
How about this handy Riot shield? additionally it could also protect you in case the next night you decide to take a stroll through a Cassowary infested woods
.
Okay, yes, wild boars are dangerous. But, how dangerous, compared to other “dangerous” activities like driving on a highway, or cycling on any road?
It seems there’s maybe 1 serious boar attack every couple of years. Yeah, it would suck to be the guy that was attacked. But, it would also suck to be the guy in one of the tens of thousands of highway deaths every year.
You can die from just about anything. Chances are you won’t die from a boar attack. Bring a good flashlight, some basic safety equipment, and don’t do anything dumb like try to pet them. You’ll survive.
