Fasttech's FandyFire STL-V6 But what battery

Hey Guys/Gals. Long Long time lurker, First time poster.

I’ve looked through quite a few threads but cant find what I’m after.

I’m looking to buy the FandyFire STL-V6 as reviews state it is a beast of a budget thrower. But some people say that the only 18650 batts that fit are the Trustfire’s? The only 18650’s i have are the Protected Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh and i have quite a few of them so it would be a shame if i cant use them on that flashlight… Do these fit or not?

Ive noticed some people say they use the tube from a c8 while some people use other configurations. Can people post what setup’s or batts they use. I will be buying the STL-v6 from FastTech, but i might aswell buy some batteries at the same time if my Panasonic’s aint gonna fit.

The batteries i have.

I've found that only the shortest protected cells will work.

IIRC, one variety of the Trustfire Protected 18650s were slightly shorter, and they only barely fit.

<Edit> I think it was these: http://www.fasttech.com/products/1420/10000377/1050702-trustfire-tf18650-3-7v-2400mah-protected - 68.6mm length. </Edit>

I have a V2 variant (I don't recall which) and my C8's battery tube will fit, allowing for a 1x 18650/2x 16340 configuration. Mine has an aftermarket driver that will run from a single cell; I'm not sure about the factory configuration.

Tom. Welcome:) Buying cells from China isn’t what it used to be. They can’t ship via airmail and even to the states, shipping can take months via sea. FT has a C8 battery tube extension. I dont know if they are compatible with the head or tailcap of the stl but if they are and two of them can acommodate your protected cells then it’s an option.

Thanks keltex78, that’s what i thought, there gonna be to long, and them Trustfires are the only ones that will work, shame really.

Thanks eebowler, And Ahh Okay, I didn’t notice you can buy them from FT. This one i presume?

That would be a great option though if 2 of them does fit
I do have 2 c8’s atm but i use them pretty regularly to take them apart.

Edit: Just found this. Kinda explains it all. Thread closed i guess.

Sorry, my mistake. You’ll have to use one c8 tube and one extension tube.(if it fits). As an alternative, maybe you can find something such as the splitting from a keyring to act as a small extension between head and body for eg. Yes, it’s a scruffy option and requires a close fit but, it’s cheaper than new cells.(and months waiting) . I don’t own the light btw, just assisting with options.
