I don’t have a lot of lights to form an opinion with but so far the Convoy M1 seems to be about as useful as they come

Best light for simple mods is the Mag, though the threading quality has dropped over the past years.
My EDC of choice is the SolarForce L2T w/ NW XR-E or NW XM-L drop-in
Best D26 host for high output is the Lumens Factory SP-6 Seraph. I can run a NW XM-L at 3+ A for an hour w/o thermal issues or the light becoming too hot to hold.
Best drop-in for work; Nichia 219 HCRI 3 or 4 mode.

Or the brown/gold colored version, because:
- They can turn a DST or STL-V6 into a shorty, and
- You can put an MT-G2 into them, with the “old” CNQ DRY driver, and
- They’re pretty bright (and cheap) as-is
Also, the DST, which I’ve direct driven with upgraded XM-L2 emitter and also with MT-G2 (not the same light).
I have to agree on the MagLights, I have 8 (9?) and just really like the style and proportions. The 1D is a fav, as are the chopped 14500 AA style. And my newest, the 14250 micro mags, are just awesome, especially in purple. An the tiny little pewter AAA MiniMag, chopped and dressed rufusbduck style is just to die for!
Solarforce M8 is an all time favorite, loved modifying it and love the results.

And yes, I learned to like modifying Convoy C8’s. Have 3 Convoys and a XinTD V4. One is sporting a massive copper heat sink/pill from Buck, with an SST-90. Another has a 2 cell battery tube in 304SS heat colored, also by Buck, and has the creamy MT-G2. Even my little miniature C8 clone is making 500 lumens from an 10440 cell. 
My Sinner Ti light with it’s MT-G2 and vivid rainbow colors courtesy of a propane torch is a new EDC that I just love to pieces.
And my biggest mod ever, rdrfrontys Olight SR90, just completed for 607.5Kcd.
With over 50 lights on hand, and virtually all of them modded, I really have a soft spot for the tweaked light. I thought about selling off a few, but dangit if I can figure out which one/ones I could let go of!
Of course, the one light that is with me 24/7/365…My Titanium Texas Poker. Custom made from the get go and modified with a BLFTiny10 it’s just an incredible little light. Always around my neck. Always.

Are we picking favorite style of light (say for example your favorite light is a 2D mag) or are we picking one individual light? (Like say you like this one specific modded 2D mag the best but don’t really care about others.
My favorite light I’ve ever had is my old modded 18650 triple surefire 6Z but my favorite lights overall are C8’s because of how versatile you can make them.
