That makes sense to me. D4 gets incredibly hot in short order, so that one can’t keep turbo going for very long. Seems to me that anyone wanting maximum throw for any sustained period of time simply has to move to a larger form factor.

Got mine today. Love it love it love it! It’s much smaller than I imagined for some reason. Really like the finish. I actually like the way the tail clicky feels. And love the color (I opted for the 7A). Thanks to all the BLF folks who worked on this. I feel lucky to have fallen in with this forum in time to get one of these. My wife loves it too. She thinks I’m flashlight nuts but she likes this one. Might have to buy another 
For the record, mine just arrived . All the basic functions are working fine. Now I have to learn the more advanced features. Thanks TK and the rest of the gang. It will be a toss up between D4 and FW3A as my favorite EDC.
Got mine today….Anyone else have trouble getting into the outer box? …… I ended up cutting it off…. I think I was just in a hurry. When I first opened the inner box I could have sworn the light was a light green…. now I can see grey…….sometimes… depending on what the light is next to but both colors are cool(far out). This is an AMAZING light(3D) and my first w/Anduril. It was worth the wait…… Great Job FW3A Team!!
Im thinking of making a new “hands free ‘cap’ light” after I order another(SST-20). Maybe Ill post pics.
The switch is silent when pushed by the edge. Clicky when pushed in the center. Feels good to me. I don’t usually like rear switch lights but it works with this one.
Yeah, one of my boxes was extremely tight. I was still able to slide the outer cover off, but it doesn’t go back on all the way.

Well, my box worked fine. Tail was loose on the light, tightened before I even tried it. Seems to be working fine. It is easy to turn on when putting it away (I Cary in a leather holster/pocket organizer). Tint is a little green , come on sst20, I got the 3D. I found the 4 click lockout, it’s too good, had to unscrew the head to resume normal operation, mind you I have not read the instructions.

Interesting. Mine makes a click sound when pressed on the edge, but it’s not as loud as the click by pressing in the center. I guess this varies from light to light.

I noticed there’s a slight delay after the switch is depressed until the light turns off. turning on the light does not have the same delay.
