Genuine UltraFire SH98 Cree XM-L T6 From Where

I believe there are quite a few fakes of the above around, does anyone know where I can get a genuine one, I’m UK based and ideally would order one from here but don’t ind it coming from China if they’re a reputable company …… there’s a link below to the one I’m trying to get hold of but the companies reviews are horrendous

You will be hard pressed to find an original ultrafire anything now days, with latticebrite LED’s floating around. I;m not sure of your price range or moding skills but the lights built by Vinh are solid. http://skylumen.com/collections/v54-lights/products/sipik-need-spec

Your best bet, if you want a well built light is to buy the one in your link and mod it to your liking. You might have to make your own pill unfortunately. Some of these new sk-98 are hit and miss.

This also makes for a great zoomie, in host form though…http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=66&product_id=580

I’d like to try one of these, which shows a nice, if not necessary, solid pill:

It might have the LB emitter, though, which Id like to change. Budget lights are a bit of a gamble, you don’t know what you are going to get. But LB isn’t the end of the world

I don’t know if there are any real 98’S, haven’t had much luck finding a real 68.

Modding …… Is that anything to do with Vespas and Rockers

Shows how much I know on the subject, saw the “term” yesterday for the 1st time …… at the moment really just looking for an off the shelf.

Again I’m guessing how little I know as it sounds as though the one I listed is now dated, even if I could find a decent fake (if there is such a thing) I wouldn’t mind as long as it was around the same power.

I’ve just recently bought one of the little Ultrafire Cree Q5’s, is that likely to be a fake as well

The UltraFire SH98 type of flashlight is the type that’s widely copied along with many other’s, the name more often than not end’s in ‘fire’.

There aren’t that many zoomable one’s around at all compared to the one’s with a fixed lens.

Convoy do the BD04 which is zoomable and you can but direct from Convoy in China if you wish, they make nice quality genuine lights and they’re very popular as they’re aren’t expensive compared to many other’s.

Have a look at the other one’s on the ‘Convoy Store’, my first few light’s were zoomable but then I purchased a Convoy C8, lovely quality, wide beam and great for throw too. I wouldn’t buy another zoomable torch.

Recently got an update of fasttech selling these with hollow pills despite such pictures

Though I wonder if this is still solid pill

With all these fakes I would just search for the cheapest possible and get that instead

What’s the difference between hollow and solid pill ??

power911,
are you saying you think the one you linked to is reasonably good quality and is it all down to if it’s a genuine T6 that’s fitted

Ahhh - "Genuine UltraFire" don't go hand in hand. Genuine UltraFire's do exist here, but 99% of the UltraFire branded lights you see and can buy are fakes, re-branded, name-stealing, copy cats. So, there are some good ones out there but they will vary widely in quality. We often may find a really good "UltraFire" light, only to find out 2 months later they swapped a junker in it's place.

BangGood got some sort of complaint from the real UltraFire company, legal threat or otherwise, and stopped selling the fake UltraFire brand lights a while back, maybe 8-12 months ago.

Hollow pills mean there's a hole under where the LED sits, for basically no other reason accept to save money in manufacturing, or to make the light feel cooler in your hand. The hole will keep the light from getting hot, because the heat from the LED has a difficult time getting to the outside of the flashlight, so the perception is the light runs better/cooler, but in fact the heat is being trapped inside and burning up the LED much quicker, and losing output because of the high temperature it's running at.

We much prefer "solid pills" - solid pills have a better thermal path for the heat from the LED.

The real UltraFire website: http://ultrafire.net/

There’s nothing in the world that I more like…. :cowboy_hat_face:

Fakes abound, and all you can do is hope- and watch for other folks who have very recently made a good purchase, then follow along quickly before they cheapen the light. Or you accept that what you buy needs a mod then doing it.

And I’m not talking about putting another mirror on your scooter when I say “Mod”.

Phil

IMHO a better zoomie

solid pill is indeed better for heat transfer and easier for modding.
Hollow pill is just hollow and nothing to work on. Heat had to transfer through the lips of a star

The link was assumed to have a solid pill but after years had passed the supplier “may” cut cost and opt for hollow pill. Idk but possibilities are everywhere.

Just get the cheapest as it is going to be a gamble anyway.
Like others said, not only people been cutting cost with hollow pill, the LED could be fake cut cost Latticebright (Cree clones)
