The super capacitor will provide ~20 uAh to 2 volts so it will likely keep the board functional for a few hours. Then what happens? The light may no longer be operational for a while after that.
@hoop, Iām building the GFS16 without the LED board, so once the supercap is fully charged, itāll stay charged for a long time.
@BlueSwordM color me interested, Iād be down for a couple if you make some, missed out the last time you offered to do some up.
@darkshot, no problem.
Now that I have a competent soldering iron again, Iāll finally be able to do some stuff ![]()
@BlueSwordM, Id also be interested in buying a few if you make them. Is it possible to makethem with the LED board also?
@JS93, not with the current boards I have.
I only have the low resistance switches.
Iāll first buy the components for the 10x switches I have, and fulfill the āreserveā list first, and then sell the rest.
If everything goes well, Iāll just order 100x for components and do a small GB for components, and completed switches ![]()
So, Iāll order the components after my exams.
If I can build one well enough, Iāll start making them myself and then shipping them.
If not, Iāll just sell the components directly to you, my friends ![]()

still in
Nice, not everybody is dead it seems.
I now have 2 slots left since I donāt really care too much about these switches anymore.
Iāll take āem.
Well, since my XHP50.3 HI GB went to water, I guess Iāll do this first ![]()
Iāve decided it: I will commit to this project entirely by buying a high current switch light with the Convoy M21B to see how large of a difference it truly makes ![]()
Anyway, Iām planning to end my projects from ascending order, so Iām likely to make a thread detailing everything that Iāll be doing.
These things wonāt be coming by themselves otherwise ![]()
I know itās necroposting, but considering that the M21B with a 20A driver exists, I think this requires a FET switch.
Iāve looked at some of the components required again, and I donāt think it should be too difficult to make one.
Hmm, this is rather interesting.
Bad news: It seems like the specific supercap we wanted to utilize for the GFS16 isnāt available anymore.
Good news: I found a source for the original 3V lithium-ion coin cell battery! Not the absolute best, but should work for a low 10x production run for the PCBs I still have ![]()
Even better, it seems I managed to find a newer rechargeable coin cell that has higher energy density. The only problem seems to be that you need a spot welder to connect the tabs safely: since I have one, it doesnāt matter to me.
Please update me on how you go with yours, my boards from jlcpcb just arrived today. Im waiting for the parts from LCSC and ordered batteries from aliexpress as well.
The ones you found were cheaper than mine
.
No problem. I plan to build them once I sell off enough of my Gen 3 springs to āfundā this project.
Still, Iām thinking of what to do with the switches that I plan to sell: should I solder the springs onto the switches, or let the buyers deal with the soldering to make shipping a whole lot cheaperā¦
Iām also eyeing some nice new MOSFETs that should allow us to perhaps go sub mOhmā¦
Leave that option up to the buys I guess⦠If you arenāt populating the fet under the spring then itās easy enough for most to solder.
What FET did you find?
I picked these 3 after looking at so many spec sheets. They were in stock and price was ok. Not sure how well I did.
