I’ve been using my Miboxer C4-12 almost continuously since I got it, had it running all day yesterday charging 12 new cells that came in. The auto select chargers with slower rates rather than faster ones, err’s on the side of longer time as compared to the high charge rates gauss seems scared of. The external power supply never even warms, much less get hot. And the charge rate goes down as the cell charges, so even if you set a manual 3A charge it reduces in the 90% area and gradually reduces more until it’s done, ending up with like a 0.04A rate running.
I’ve charged 32650’s, 26650’s, a LOT of 18650’s, 18500’s, 18350’s, 16340’s, and 10440’s. It works, and works well. The auto settings seem to be based on cell temperature, resistance, and capacity, with present state of charge being a weighted factor. Very cool to see it cycling through all the points that it shows, I’ve charged some 60-70 cells in it so far and they’ve all terminated at 4.20 except for a few older cells that terminated at 4.19 to 4.17.
I would like to offer some feedback to Leo on the C4-12.
The only small flaw I have found is that on certain 26650 cells the wrapper will touch the bottom post that sticks out instead of touching the metal battery plate. This causes me to have to rotate or fiddle with the battery to get a good connection.
Maybe it is because the metal sliders lean back too far?
Or maybe the stamped raised section in the slider is a bit loo low?
I’m not exactly sure. It’s not been any kind of a big deal, but maybe it can be adjusted on future versions.
Thank you for your feedback, Yes, we also found this issue, and we have update the negative bottom. the new chargers will get a good connection with the battery.
I have yet to find these chargers on sale anywhere, but I did find out that Madmax has a coupon for them from Banggood. It drops the price from $44 down to $34. That’s definitely a good deal.
Ordered mine a few weeks ago but not here yet. How does this company handle defects such as the slot-3 failures? Of course I'm hoping mine does not fail.
I am one of the “lucky” ones with slot 3 - bought November 2017, contacted Leo here and the Aliexpress seller, waiting now for some kind of resolution.
There are a few, if I remember well, ARsee had a slot 3 failure as well, and d.t.a had one where it overcharged a cell in slot-3 and the above poster had one and I'm sure a few more. I regret ordering the C4-12 now and will probably never use it now that I know it overcharges. Here is one of those threads
I have several brands of chargers/analyzers/hobby chargers…it’s common for any brand to have reports of failures and most of them are fairly isolated problems…and I have my share of them too……
About the MiBoxer, I have 2 C4-12, and the C2-4000 and all 3 have been fine up to now, even very impressed by this brand.
When you have yours give it a try for a week and report back here…it’s too early to say, IMO.
