Now come on guys! Let's be fair. Phenix did their due diligence in making this phenomenal new light.
The design is clearly the result of detailed research into the requirements, and buying habit of serious flashlight users and collectors.
I have been in touch with Phenix about this new product, and they have chosen disclose some data on how they anticipate the flashlight market to react to the launch of this revolutionary new product.
Here's a detailed overview of Phenix's expectations: http://tinyurl.com/kp7y388
When I wake up this morning, first thing I think of was this design and now I think it is actually very creative design. A lot of time we either have a thrower or flooder, and make compromise between them. Now Fenix is putting more circuitry in flashlights to have independent thrower and flooder LEDs.
Guys, guys, please, no Fenix talk in this thread. In OP, there is a link to a more appropriate thread for such talk. This is a serious group buy thread for a special limited edition PHENIX TK86.
This light is obviously far superior with its large reflector, high CRI close up lights, adjustable flood, bunch of modes, bunch of switches, bunch of battery types, and a dual pocket clip! ...among other features.
Build quality of the Phenix TK86 like nothing you have experienced before. The moment you pick it up you understand that its a really special light! Feel and grip is just extraordinary. Its perfectly weighted when you hold it near the front too.
Yes, TK75 is very good flashlight that can both flood and throw. But if Fenix wants to break the barrier to reach maybe 120kcd or 150kcd, it is better with single emitter and large reflector. In the past for multi-LED, it is always flood and throw with sheer power of lumens and high power consumption. Now Fenix try to arrange those LEDs for different task.
Its got more buttons than than Phenix TK86 - limited special edition..
Phenix will not make an inferior product compared to other manufacturers. So until they come up with a better version, this group buy is cancelled. Sorry to be the messenger of these sad news. :(
Nope.. I was so eager to present the Phenix TK86 to all of you, I though it had it all.
Just look at their logo.
PHENIX - bright as the sun!
This is their sub-brand, PhenixFire.
I thought it looked like a promising company with innovative features. Obviously, they just didn't have enough buttons and such in order to make it against the TK76... Its a tough market..
from the looks of the fenix, you could stack some trustfires in it, turn it on high, stand it on its head and then watch it take off into orbit.
what you need to do is put about 12 of the DX m5s around the head. that will add 12 switches, and a bad@$$ halo to it. anything with a halo will sell like hotcakes. doubles its value instantly
You cannot get a refund on any monies spent in this group buy. Apparently all deposited money has been spent on developing the new wonder light being developed by a certain member in this thread which will never see production. All is not lost though as thanks to the members hard earned spent monies we will get to see some unbelievable pictures of this unbelievable light. I’m excited.
I am sorry, there will be no money refunded, nor will there be any beamshots.
You guys may not have heard, but workers at the Phenix factory was putting together the lights for this group buy. Sadly, some new employee did not understand the Chinglish instructions for applying loctite. He put a ton of red loctite on all the threads, including the tailcap where he was supposed to use lube. Phenix does not answer my mails anymore. They probably took their money and ran.. Sleacy scumbags! |(
