Confirmed with Fara it’ll be open on the 1st.
What does that mean? Deadline until 1st march or is it possible to order via GB in april/may? Or will production cease before april/may?
I asked TKLamp and they will keep the order page open on the 1st of march for you to to place your order if interested, then it will close the day after.
Production will be committed to when we have 10 confirmed orders (currently at 8), and the product is expected to ship end of march to early april.
The datalogging version should eventually be available to order separately after the group buy is closed and the initial orders have shipped, but I’m not sure of the timeline on that, I’d imagine there might be a delay, maybe depends on how many are produced in the initial batch.
Ok, then I’m out. Thanks anyway.
We have passed 10 orders placed, so production is now confirmed!
Thanks so much to everyone who has signed up or otherwise participated.
@LiteintheNite @duckie @yasenf @peartrie reminder in case anyone has missed it so far, production is now confirmed.
I actually did miss it, order is now placed. Thanks.
Thanks for your info, just ordered
Hi, i am interested but i have some questions.
What is the maximum diameter that the lamp may have in order to measure it in the sphere?
And how does the data logging work, can the data be exported to Excel, for example?
Edit:
I have just orderd it.
Max diameter is 2.9 inches.
Datalogging, the software hasn’t been finalised yet, but CSV format would be easy to do and can be used by excel.
Is there an update for this project now ?! Thanks !
Asked Fara yesterday and she said the target shipping date is within a week
Got an email yesterday for shipping in two weeks time … but more interesting things:
For those of you who are not on our discord, a few new things have been added to the this model:
-
lumen range increased from 13,000 to 25,000 lm (1 lm resolution)
-
build-in candela/lux conversion
-
build-in beam distance calculation
Sounds very nice, i am curious about my new baby …
Mine shipped!!!
Congrats!
No confirmation for mine yet, waiting…
I got a shipping notice too, yesterday … i am curious !
Do anyone know something about a manual for the Sphere ?!
I’ll check with Fara. There’s definitely something for reading the data from it available, there’s a demo video:
I also got shipping notice.
UPDATE
Sorry I’ve been so slow on this, had a huge number of things going on and a lot of projects slipping. Pushing through some exhaustion today to get some other todos off my list to free up capacity.
Testers arrived mid to late May. Initially, the calibration was off and read ~10-20% high.
Fara developed a low cost calibration lamp with a calibrated output that we can use to recalibrate our spheres. Currently available to group buy participants to buy (if you were in on the group buy and haven’t had the info yet, DM me here or ask Fara on the TKLamp discord). If you participated and aren’t interested in buying one, Fara is I think working on loaner ones to recalibrate your sphere too.
The datalogging version of the tester is now available for general sale: (NEW) 🔦 TK2303D Flashlight Tester
The calibration lamp should also in the future be available separately to the sphere for DIY builds etc.
I’m proud to have got this project started, and a huge thanks to everyone who bought one who really made it possible
Now that would be useful for everyone with DIY spheres, assuming it is accurate, and we probably would have to assume, since the company doesn’t seem to offer accuracy claims or detailed specs. But if it were accurate I would want one in addition to my Maukka calibration lights.
It might be nice if the calibration lamps were offered at different CCTs, such as 2700k and 6500k. Your sample doesn’t state the CCT on the calibration report. If the calibration lamp included an IES TM-30-18 Color Rendition Report, it would be even more useful as a reference.
Also, it is important to know the accuracy of the device used to create the calibration report. This spec is also not stated on the report.
The nominal device temperature after the 15 minute warm up would be good to know as well.
