Edit: I dont like the GearBest exchange rate. AU$ to US$ is $0.94US for AU$1. PP has a better exchange rate than GB uses, no idea where they get their numbers from.

US$34.47 less coupon US$24.99 (-US$9.48) @ official exch rate std price of US$34.47 is AU$36.67 but GB has it at…

AU$39.15 less coupon AU$28.38 (-US$9.48), $ amount discount is in US$ no matter currency.

Using PP exchange rate, I paid AU$27.60 due to paying in $US. Not a huge amount of difference but if you purchased 50 it adds up.

if you buy a lot from OS look into getting a 28 degrees master card, by far the best exchange rates. You can also opt for price protection

It is THE best exchange rate because it’s the mid-market rate. They don’t take a cut of anything. What you see on xe.com is what you get.

Remember to pay in US currency with it though.

Or GearBest could apply a price that reflects a proper conversion rate without the gouging. Witht he discount code in US$, the price is close, but at the standard GB price, its nearly $3 over-priced.

Out of curiosity, how long should “local” shipping take? I placed two orders

W1407012014047413 - shipped on July 3
W1406292205054408 - shipped on July 1

to a Hong Kong address. Usually HK or Shenzhen companies will just send it by local courier and it shows up within 2 days. 3-4 if they use HK post.

The only times I’ve had it longer is when it went via Singapore (and Sweden?!), or when DX downgraded it from “shipped” to “backordered”.

Problem is paypal, they have the highest exchange rates and often double dip.

They charge the seller nominal fees, they charge the buyer in the form of currency conversion fee’s and most of the time they will also they will also short change the seller on the currency conversion as well.

If the problem was paypal then the high exchange rate shouldn’t stand when you select other payment methods, but it does. I made a thread about this. It’s just too high.

So anyway, I don’t understand what the craze is with this light. I want to buy it because it looks pretty cheap but I can’t see what’s good about it?

I paid the $3.56 for express delivery. They DHL’ed it after 7 days. 3 days later I got my four ordered lights. The driver has 8-350mah 7135’s, no star or any star bridged, it’s only programmed for 5 modes. The led is on a 20mm copper star with thermal grease.
