I have my D4K with Lume X1 driver and SFT25R emitters. Moonlight on its lowest level is so low as to be invisible, mine’s currently set to level 15 which seems about right for my use. There is no pre-flash, the experience of moonlight is much like the D3AA, but it will go even lower. There is no flicker. Also like the D3AA the aux lights on low are brighter than the D4K with Hank’s driver, the Lume X1 and D3AA seem to be similar in this regard.
The SFT25R emitters in the D4K are brilliant in both meanings of the word, it is cold white but I can’t see any green and it throws better than I expected. It’s still not a thrower per se but I think it beats my Warrior Mini 3. It was foggy last night so not ideal for testing but my first impression when I hit turbo was “Wow!”. I need to compare the D4K SFT25R to my D1K XHP 70.3 HI side by side, but I think the D4K might beat it on throw and brightness while being more pocket-friendly.
Honestly, if there’s ever an option for this configuration but with SFT25R in 5000K I think it would be my ideal EDC light.
