There are really a lot of choices.
I own Olight S15R and really like it. It’s 4 well spaced brightness modes + hiddent strobe. Shortcuts from off to lowest and to highest modes. Magnetic tail and built in charger. It’s $50 including 14500 battery and charger, can use AA as well (on AA the High mode is same brightness as medium though). It was on sale couple of times at GearBest and BangGood for under $30.

The higher priced lights I like best are the LED Lensers, because they are very well made and put more of their light into the throw than any others I know of.
The best ones I have bought so far are the P5.2 and the P7.2. If there is a P14.2, that would be as good, but the P14 has an old XR-E LED in it, and it is hard to swap. Full First World price might be over $50, but they can be found on EBay and some at Fasttech for around half that.
The trouble with them is that they don’t take lithium ion cells and they take a lot of modification to adapt to them.
My luck has not been so good with Coast or O-Light
