Help choosing a budget knife

The Opinel would have to be modified to remove the locking collar, and Jacobhl has already stated that's not acceptable.

Oh, you could also look at Rough Rider slipjoint knives. Good quality, out of China, they currently make knives for a number of American companies including Schrade, Winchester and Buck. Should be pretty cheap (under $10US shipped) for a single blade model. Non-locking, all two handed opening knives.

No 5 and below are non-locking afaik.

i understand the outlawing of automatic knives (well, not really, but it has been this way for a really long time, even in the u.s.) but what is the motivation behind outlawing a locking mechanism?? the authorities want more hand injuries when blades accidentally close during real world use?

and no multi tools?? whats up with that? back to the sharpened screwdriver i used to carry while on work gangs in the pacific northwest woods in the 70's!!

Guess they think that a knife without a lock cannot be used to stabbing, and therefore it's less dangerous. But of course it's the opposite, just like hyde said.

And if you are referring to my post about the multitools... Multitools are allowed here as long as they don't have blades. I tried to check what our law actually says about knifes but it's such a leagalish nonsense that I couldn't make any sense to it. But what it said literally is that one is not allowed to carry a blade in public place. Full stop. Nothing about blade length (contrary to what i said before) or locking mechanism. Or actually it says that it's against the law to buy, sell, manufacture or carry any knife with automatic blade. Guess I shouldn't have ordered this then... But i did Tongue out

They all fit the profile, but look absolutely horrible. Not anything for me..

I'd have to repeat my last statement.. I do really appriciate all the suggestions however - it's always good to have options on the table :)

I'd have to say that this looks very promising. Where can such an insane stabbingweapon knife be found on the cheap? I couldn't find it anywhere but their own site.

Shipping to Denmark from US, opiknife maybe. Also try ebay & amazon. Shipping cost is relatively high.

Opinels are definately not "insane stabbing weapon", quite tame looking compared to other folders. Been around more than 100 years. One of the “100 most beautiful products in the world” according to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Check if it is lockable or not. I haven't actually seen a No 5.

Thx!

This is for Mr. K.

I really like my budget Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark 2!
Its on par with the Spyderco Delica in size.

Aww. Is he sleeping?

Spyderco makes a knife that was designed for strict knife laws in mind. It’s called the UK Pen Knife. It’s not budget but it’s a nice knife and is legal.
