Hobby Chargers

So are you satisfied with this? It’s on my list since I bought the iCharger 106B+ but I don’t need just yet. Most probably I want to buy it because it looks cool…………oh over-consumption disease.

Yes, it’s a very nice charger. I have not had much time to play with all its gory features, and so far I have only driven it with a 300 watt power supply.

It’s not cheap but as my LiPo collection builds up (as well as my don 5 now) it’s certainly on my radar. We also plan on some RC toys so I think this does the job perfect.

What I am on the process of doing right now is finding a place indoors for unattended charging with safety measures in place. Probably within a metal cabinet just outside my playroom where no wood or flammables are close by and is also close to my desk.

Hey guys, I just discharged a 18650 Battery with 3A… After the 3V cutoff the battery was very very hot… You can still hold it in your hands, but it was nearly so hot, that you cant touch it.

Is this normal? Or should I throw this battery away? Now 15min later, its nearly cold again and shows 3.7V at the multimeter

DasEtwas, what was the brand or make of the battery. If its a high quality battery like a Panasonic or Sanyo then it should not get that hot maybe warm (if older and used) to the touch but not hot. If its getting hot it may have built up a high internal resistance and you should considering tossing it. With prices like fasttech has its not worth the risk to me. If it gets to hot it can go into thermal runaway and go poof.

It was a himax… And yes it has about 270m Ohm internal resistance… I checked now a xtar 18700 with Sanyo inside which measure 160m Ohm. It gets good warm too, but not really hot.

So anyone has the Plug King 19?

And if yes, please from where did you buy it and what are the AWG ratings on yours?

The Malsmodels stock seems to have 14AWG as bulk rating.

In the malsnodels pics it shows 14, 16, 20 and smaller. What do you want such big leads for?? are you charging A123’s @ 20amps?

I like the thick leads for their lower resistance. The mains plug actually fits perfectly into the sockets of a DMM ;)
