I ordered some components from China and this message was in my order confirmation email:
That’s exactly what they’re going to do. Olight is already doing it. Their new releases are now sold at full MSRP in every country, not just the United States.
Just a friendly reminder for everybody:
Thanks to everyone for helping control the scope of this conversation thus far.
I have flashlights and parts I haven’t used yet. I will not be purchasing any new lights or parts for some time.
I will tell you this, many companies are jumping the gun and raising prices even though they have not encountered any price increases themselves.
No one really knows due to extreme shifts in leadership temperament.
I got modded earlier today in this topic for saying that same word in the same context. You probably will too, unless you edit it away.

Advice taken. But we know it’s true.

many companies are jumping the gun and raising prices even though they have not encountered any price increases themselves.
Yeah, there has been a lot of that going around – using recent events as an excuse for predatory profiteering, increasing prices unnecessarily and blaming it on “inflation”. A.k.a. greedflation. All while posting record profits. There were some efforts to curtail that by making some of the worst corporate practices illegal, but that all went out the window a few months ago.

I got modded earlier today in this topic for saying that … You probably will too
That’s why I’ve mostly avoided saying anything at all in this thread. It’s an inherently hot topic, and pretty much any sensible take on it is going to include swearing (at minimum) or other highly inflammatory remarks, and though such remarks are appropriate for the topic, it is not allowed here.
Discussing it without emotive language carries a hefty risk of normalizing it, when things are anything but normal. I can’t really communicate about this topic or the general state of the world lately, within forum rules, without giving an inaccurate impression that the situation is far less serious than it is.
So I’ve mostly been spending time elsewhere, at places where I can say “####” and “############” and “#### the ###### ######### and his ####### #### ########## with a ########”.
It’s not really that this is the wrong place to talk about these things. These issues affect basically everyone everywhere, which makes everywhere an appropriate place to talk about it. But different places have different ways of handling it.
Anyway, with the amount of chaos and instability lately, every move is a gamble, and lots of people are waiting for things to settle before making any big decisions. Big stuff is changing almost daily, and we can try to work out the details here, but it’ll probably change again in the time it takes to ship a package around the world.
So pretty much everyone is on edge, holding their breath, and one of the only certain things is the unusually high level of uncertainty. If you place any orders now, nobody can really say for sure whether it’ll end up with a big surcharge or whether it’ll even arrive at all. And that apprehension, that lack of confidence in basic market functions, is already having a big impact.
The only practical advice I can give people about international purchases in mid-2025 is… keep in mind that purchases right now are a gamble. And if a gamble is big enough that you have to care about the outcome, it’s generally a sign that you shouldn’t be gambling.
How will orders be impacted
Zebra prices have increased by 13-30%
Convoy Lights posted that orders have increased and turn around time will take 4 days longer than usual.
In Early February 2025 (when the Tariff increase was first announced), I mailed two separate lights, by USPS, to different addresses, that were never delivered. This had Never happened to me before.
I still have Never lost an inbound package from China, and I have Never been asked to go to the post office to pay a Tariff before receiving delivery.
I did recently have to pay a tiny tariff on an approximately $10 order for some resistors… I dont remember the exact tariff amount… I think it was about 5%… But it did not have any impact on my ordering… the amount was insignificant, to me.
My most recent flashlight order from China, a Wurkkos Wk03, arrived today. 14 days after ordering… There was no new delivery fee, the light just arrived as usual, in my mailbox.
I bought an Emisar DW4K on 4/5 and received it today. So 9 days from the time of order to getting it to me. It was delivered a few days faster than a D4W that I bought last month, so at least with this purchase there was no impact on me.
Ordered Skilhunt E3a on April 9, reached Los Angeles April 14… now waiting for it to cross the desert for delivery… the rest depends on USPS…
So far no drama, no Trans-Pacific shipping delay… no tariff, no price increase… No Problem!
Sounds good.
However, the real test will be whether it is still good after the exemption on shipments below $800 goes away.
agree…
we will know more in a couple of weeks (May 2 milestone)
Wow, this is getting worse by the day.
I just ordered a Skilhunt H300R from the Skilhunt website for $73 including battery… Free Shipping, No Tax.
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion… will it arrive in my mailbox as usual?
How will orders be impacted
There was no impact on my order.
Like Yogi Berra already said: “It Ain’t Over 'Til It’s Over” or us Dutchies say: “don’t sell the hide before you shoot the bear” (there are no bears in Dutchland).
Or: wait until it’s in your hand.
Received a new Wurkkos Wk03 Gold.
How will orders be impacted
No Impact
I’ve got another d3aa coming in…let’s hope it beats the May 2nd deadline, or at least there’s leniency for orders shipped prior to May 2nd, within reason, like 2 weeks.
