Nice with the black parts, but the ano is nicer on the Fireflies.
Off to buy some clips
the chalky ano on the D3AA can be polished
Here is the light with only the head and bezel polished, to show the difference:
Looks good, what was your process for polishing?
hand rubbed
no special tools, just held the sunshine cloth around one end of the light, and turned the other end of the light with my other hand.
hope that made sense…
the cloth is saturated with fine grit aluminum oxide polishing compound… typically sold for polishing silver jewelry
I really appreciate you answering all my questions since I’ve been around. I know I’ve asked a lot! I do hope I’m not annoying senior members around here. I’ve noticed I tend to post more than most, and with way less knowledge. I’m just excited about this new phase of the hobby for me!
more than happy to share info with you
your enthusiasm is inspiring
I like your questions, they are interesting, to me
and I appreciate your contributions
I especially appreciate that you post photos
plus you seem to like some of the same things I like…
you have very good taste… LOL
That sure does look nice. Always been a fan of red/black combo!
Polished up a bit as Jon showed sure would make it shine a bit more too if desired. Still getting used to these finishes and how they wear in basic jeans in an office and sometimes warehouse environment.
Anybody happen to have a black D3aa with copper bezel/ black raised switch ring and black button, and/or a black D3aa with copper head/raised black switch ring and black button?
I’ve found a few images searching Google and what not, but nothing exact to those. I like the Duracell look haha. Just debating which way to go.
Got my new clips today. Still waiting on my other D3aa to arrive. Very happy with this clip on this light. Close color match, nice retention. Have a pvd black clip waiting now!
⁸What colour is the bezel, clip and switch ring? It looks fantastic.
Bezel and switch ring are copper and the clip is bronze pvd from Hanks website. I agree, love how it all came together! Bronze and copper aren’t a perfect match, but pretty darn close.
Been fiddling with buttons and clips this evening. Clips will probably go the other way round but do give a nice bit to grab to pull the light out. Also, it’s going to be very obvious if there’s an accidental activation.
Before, standard button choices. Grey light is dedomed Nichia 4500K with warm white aux (much too bright even on low, so the dot button tames them nicely.
Black, looking moody, SFT-25R 5000K in this one so it’s my thrower of the three.
Red with black parts has cyan aux, only changed the rubber switch cap. This one has NTG35 5000K 95CRI+
After and clips added. They all look pretty good I think.
How’s the tint on the 5000K SFT-25R? I went for 6500K for mine because a few people on Reddit reported that it was green.
It’s a bit green on low but not bad at all. I use it all days in D3AA and it is a mini beast. There are more green tint leds, i think SFT25 is not the baddest case
As @Light_Veteran says, it’s a bit green. I don’t notice it at all if it’s my solo light for a dog walk, but run a dedomed 519A or the pearly NTG35 and then switch on the SFT and for a moment it’s pretty green. If I was going again, I’d probably get the 6500K “dedicated thrower colour temp”.
Thank you. The lights I have with the 6500K SFT-25R are very neutral in terms of tint, they’re icy white but they are white.
It’s pretty normal maybe for the all eyes in the world
Not properly… it’s white on high lumens but in low is not green like the SFT40 6500 but there is a little bit of green I see in my eyes… Yes is better then many of leds created in the past. But of put SFT near FFL is probably green. But is a good led. In D3AA (I have 5000k) is very powerful led.
I can’t perceive any green in either my D4K or D3AA, even on low levels, but this could be batch variation.
Is good for you. Nice
