I don’t think anyone has tested the new Wizard, but I would expect it to look good. I offered to review it for them and they never replied, so oh well.
I think it has to be an item that is available in their North American warehouse. I think the issue is that the stock here has sold out and now must be shipped from China. They ship DHL so it comes quick but $15 may be the cheapest you’ll find right now.
If you buy two, you can easily sell the second one on Reddit. I sold my extra one without any trouble and it saves you $15 in shipping since it’s $30 shipping for one and $15 for two
Normally the non K variants of the 219B are on the BBL or even above and not very rosy at all. However, the SW40 I have are from Clemence, which is very rosy not unlike the SW45K. The D220 version of the E21A 4000K looks very similar to the SW40. Nearly identical but maybe a tad bit less rosy. I think I like the E21A slightly more because it is domeless so the tint is more even. Both are beautiful. However, the most recent sold out batch of E21A 4000K is D240, which is basically right on the BBL so it is not as nice and rosy. The good thing about E21A is that you can mix emitters in the quad board so you can get the same nice rosy 4000K with 2x 3500K + 2x 4500K. Results may look even better than the D220 4000K since mixing CCT usually results in higher Rg values for more saturated colors.
Something different. I’d be tempted to do a quad with that. But really I’d want a cr123 light to be tiny like an mi1c
Which brings me to something else. The thread by Texas Ace discusses condenser lenses “like mi1c or utorch s1 mini. This would be taking the opposite approach to diffusing the beam. Would it work with e21a, and what are the drawbacks?
Fin17 coupon makes H04r for $33 until 1/30. I’m seriously considering the H04r instead of the wizard because its shorter and has knurling. And I won’t marr it up or break the lens to change it. But you get a lot more with the lizard for just a little more cost, and its probably a better host as is.
