Hello BudgetLightForum Users! I am Jack Levin, CEO of ImageShack.
Over the users a lot of you uploaded some very high quality photos to ImageShack, ranking this forum one of our top referrers at ImageShack.
As you have probably recently learned, ImageShack has discontinued unlimited free picture hosting, and now offers limited time free accounts for first time users, and premium (paid) accounts for the rest at about $2/month.
I have spoken to sb56637 about an idea we had, and he agreed that I should post about it. Basically, we want to offer this forum members 3 months of unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth photo hosting. Now, you may say that there are plenty of ‘free’ hosting services out there. I want to point out there is absolutely no strings attached to this offer, there is nothing to lose to try new ImageShack;
We do not modify your pictures in any way, we do not track your bandwidth, we allow animated gifs, have multi resolution service that can change resolution of your picture after it was uploaded without touching the original, we have an amazing, fast new drag and drop uploader, awesome album management system. Three different views to see your pictures on ImageShack. IPhone and Android Apps (including Mac OS desktop app that works similar to dropbox “Skypath”). Plus, we have no ads whatsoever to spoil the user experience. We make at least 4 backups of your pictures so that they are almost impossible to lose.
I am planning to post a URL that will upgrade existing accounts to this “BudgetLightForum” status in this thread. Until that point, if you would like to get your account upgraded, please PM me with your email address on username that you have registered on ImageShack.
I am a new user to ImageShack. What happens to the photos that we have uploaded under the Free system? Your post is ironic, today I set up a Flickr account. I really liked ImageShack, but after all we are a “Budget” light forum! The offer seems genuine, however $24 is a nice flashlight. Perhaps, a real NSA reward would be free 12 months? What do you think Jack?
Regards,
Ric Flair
“What happens to the photos that we have uploaded under the Free system?” —
Those photos will stay and be available in ImageShack forever (at least while we stay in business).
“Perhaps, a real NSA reward would be free 12 months?” — I think we can work something out at the end of 3 month period :). Currently the yearly plan is $20/yr (if paid in single transaction). With extra 3 months this drops by 1/4.
you don’t have to, this is an offer to use this service for free for a few months to get you used to it and be more willing to pay for it once the trial ends
In that sense its no different then what countless companies do, but i won’t be taking advantage of this offer because i won’t be getting a paid account in future
Hey, it could happen. But if it does, don’t let it drag you down. With a paid in full subscription they have a fine giclee print specialist on standby to help recreate your Monet. Or with the Platnium Paid subscription, you can choose between a giclee rendition or hand done recreation performed by Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simon’s great great great cousin. You will never be painted in a corner with ImageShack, they got your back! 8)
We have the same in the first thread:

magnito named the advantages of his service (post #37). The drag and drop upload function is nice and I tried it with my account.
Now I have to think about it: Try the 3 months option, but I have also opened a photobucket free account 2 days after the information, that imageshack will stop the free accounts.
