No. It doesnt have the drive current to justify using the SST90, and even if it did it would overheat in a host that small + light weight.
The SST needs a lot of power to justify even using it. Its an underperforming emitter when under-driven. You would get more lumens driving an XPG or XML at that current.

I would like one of those C8 to use without driver, direct driven with an LMR cell (Like AW or similar). I don’t know if the switch can handle it, but for short bursts like 100 seconds it would be an awesome light.
My question is… is it safe for the LED to direct drive with a LMR battery? apart from the poor heatsink, what would be the current with full charge?
Maybe the switch can help adding some resistance and the LED won’t burn, but I don’t know…
And it would be cheaper to buy a C8, you can buy a spare SST-90 and a C8 , for USD43, and an extra XR-E emitter and driver, all for less money.
Edit: This one from DX is cheaper and has a SS-bezel… all for USD39, not bad.
*_But I think that a better host for 1x18650 would be the HD2010 with this SST-90

x2 on that.
Well let’s get this project going !!! Who can we contact ?

it sounds not good to use ONLY ONE 18650 to drive SST-90.
You may take a look at this. TrustFire X6 SST-90.

I have one modded with a 9 amp driver and I love it. Extremely, bright, throws well, and it has good heat management.
I have a BigBruiser with the warmwhite sst90, runs on one 26650 in direct drive. Plenty of heat sync fins. There around $150-160 new, and well worth it, for a nice floody light. Not a thrower, but a good example of how an sst90 can be run on a single cell and still fit in the hand

Truthfully, I didn't make it. Another member bought it and sent it to E1320 who modded with with the driver, and then the guy needed some money so he sold it to me. :)
100 dollars for a SST-90 light? Yes Please.
Here the thread about it is.

As well as the thermal mass of the drive and require 800 pounds, 800 square inches of surface area of the heat to dissipate.
