I’m trying to learn here, can someone Please explain what is inside the light. .
.

Looks to be … a home made version of one of these…https://meadowstar.com/rltproducts/rlt-retroreflectors/

Sorry for the delay replying I have worked every day over the christmas break and havent had any time to do anything.
It is a stainless steel butt weld dome endcap that has been polished, the opening is not the right size because it is one that was already cut for another use. the idea is the light that doesnt hit the lens is reflected back to the light emitting surface and increases the intensity. I have a thought that more than one led can be used but the extra leds are blocked by the aperture so that only the centre is exposed to the lens. the inverted reflector may have to be a different shape to properly focus the extras.

Tried a couple times to make a collar’ once with glass and once with metal, Failed misrabley both times. This is no easy thing to do.

So you are getting a focused mirror image of 1 LED’s die surface back onto the led?

I think you are right the stainless endcap doesnt focus a clear image, but it is worth a try. Sometimes you have to spend a bit on materials and tools to get results.

The K75 Acebeam is really a monstrous throw. I carefully and painstakingly looked through 20x50 Bushnell binoculars while shining down a straight runoff Wash that ended in an airport hanger. The distance was easily half a mile; could be as much as .6 mile or more.

I could tell the scattered cool white light of the K75 reached the very end of the wash and then a large shrubbery or tree beyond that, poking up higher than the hangar building. Not bad for LED.

Flashaholics Youtube video accurately portrays K75’s reach!

It seems you got much closer to a actual working collar then I ever did. I think iam going to try your stainless metal cap idea.Im not giving up on this anytime soon.lol

BTW:did you get a chance to try out the Q8 driver with the sbt90.2?

The Q8 I havent had working properly yet it blew a first gen sbt90 and Im waiting for LEDs for lantend. but I need to finish the old lumens comp light first, it will get done soon.
