I have the same one, but branded Duka LS-P (Xiaomi).
It’s the best product I bought so far from China for the price ($17).
It’s very small, strong aluminium case, accurate and can measure volume too!
Much better deal compared to a Bosch plastic brick that has the same performance for 5x the price…
I have something cheap off the ‘zon that looks similar. I compared measurements to tape in the 8’–12’ range and found it to be better than tape…
Only thing is, get it level.
Try measuring a room, with the laser you just need to put it against a wall and aim at the opposite wall to get a precise result (Select min. and sweep it a bit around if you have problems with aiming straight), with a tape you need to place it in a straight path from one wall to another.
In most cases laser is both faster and more precise than tape.
This does not mean a that it always is better than a tape measurement, I uses both depending on what I want to measure.
I can only read the tape to 16ths.
But mostly I was talking about quality measurements. Yes, I can take my time and get a very good measurement with tape. Or I can measure in five seconds with laser and get the value that takes over a minute with tape.
I was interested in knowing how he was determining that his tape measurement result was less accurate. In order to do that, he would have to be using yet a third tool (not his laser measure) with known accuracy do determine which of the two (tape or laser measure) is more accurate.
A few years ago I was involved in a job that required inside residential buildings measurements. Within an inch or so was ok but due to furniture etc. using a tape was awkward. I bought and used a Bosch DLR165 and was very happy with it. For outside measurements I carried an aluminium clipboard and targeted that with the Bosch. It worked very well except in bright sunlight.
The Bosch was expensive but measured far more accurately than I required.
