Light Review: Fenix PD 32 V2.0

No, it has physical reverse polarity protection (read - needs a button top cell).

Subwoofer do you have any thoughts on why this light cuts out briefly when shaken hard or tapped but the PD35v2 doesn’t? As I said before if I swap the tailcap from the PD35 onto the PD32 it no longer does it so I wonder if the PD35 tailcap just reduces the space in the battery compartment, or whether it’s something in the tailcap itself that’s breaking the connection. Haven’t got the PD35 to hand right but I’ll compare spring sizes later as that’s just occurred to me as a possible difference.

Not really beyond what I said before about having a spring only at one end. This will always make it possible to tap the cell away from the contact unless the cell is long enough to completely compress the single spring, and that introduces another issue of possible cell damage. The PD32 spring might be weaker than the PD35’s spring (and that PD35 tailcap might not be quite the right fit for the PD32 (I’d imagine Fenix would not recommend swapping them).

How long is the cell you are using in the PD32, and is it the Fenix micro-USB chargeable cell?

LG MJ1 (unprotected), 64.8mm. The fenix battery is probably longer.

I mostly just found it odd that the 32 cuts out easily when the tailcap is tapped but the 35 doesn’t, with the same battery.

Looks like you were right, the PD32 spring is both shorter and softer than the PD35 spring.

Also my battery is 5.2mm shorter than a Fenix battery. Maybe ill get some magnet spacers.

Just got one of the Fenix micro-usb batteries. With this it is no longer possible to shake or tap it and make it cut out.

I am very pleased with my new PD32 V2. I am using this light daily in my early morning and after dark dog walks. I carry an Atrolux FT02S for flood and PD32 V2 for throw. The performance of the PD32 V2 is exceptional all around and I am astounded by the flawless beam profile and the extreme distance of throw from such a compact light.

With a bit of fiddling the UI is easily mastered and quite sensible.

I am using a Fenix ARBL18 High-Capacity 18650 Battery - 3500mAh micro rechargeable battery which works perfectly.

I highly recommend this little light for your EDC needs.

Anyone know the max power draw of this light on turbo mode?
